If you’re in search of waiver wire pickups in Week 4 for your fantasy football team, then consider running back Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers), wide receiver Tim Patrick (Denver Broncos), tight end Dalton Schultz (Dallas Cowboys), and running back Zack Moss (Buffalo Bills).

In the NFL’s war of attrition, a couple of key starters are out, including Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers. McCaffrey exited the Thursday Night Football game with a hamstring injury, but the Panthers still prevailed and improved to 3-0 on the season.

Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups
  • Chuba Hubbard (RB, Carolina Panthers)
  • Tim Patrick (WR, Denver Broncos)
  • Dalton Schultz (TE, Dallas Cowboys)
  • Zack Moss (RB, Buffalo Bills)

The Denver Broncos saw two of their top wide receivers go down with injuries in the first three games of the season. Denver lost Jerry Jeudy in Week 1 and he’ll miss a couple of more games with a high ankle sprain. On Sunday, the Broncos lost deep-threat KJ Hamler to a season-ending ACL injury.

Chuba Hubbard

The Carolina Panthers are glad they picked Hubbard with a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The rookie out of Oklahoma State proved his worth in the third game of the season when head coach Matt Rhule inserted him into the lineup after McCaffrey couldn’t play the second half against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.

Hubbard did a solid job off the bench against the Texans with 11 rushes for 52 yards on 4.7 yards per carry. He also added five receptions for 27 yards.

“Losing Christian is hard,” said Rhule. “We saw signs of Chuba in the second half. Once he knew this is my chance, you saw him make some plays. I would expect our guys to come out, that’s just what it is. That’s the way this league goes.”

Sure, McCaffrey is irreplaceable. He was the consensus #1 pick in everyone’s fantasy football draft this year, but injuries were in the back of everyone’s mind. If you drafted McCaffrey, you better act quickly and add Hubbard before one of your opponents blocks you with CMAC’s backup.

Tim Patrick

Patrick began the season as the #3 wideout in Denver behind Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, but toss in Noah Fant, and Patrick was the fourth option for Teddy Bridgewater.

After Jeudy went down in Week 1, both Patrick and Hamler were popular waiver wire pickups. If you didn’t add Patrick then, you better hope he’s still available in Week 4. Without Hamler and Jeudy, Patrick’s overall value increases for the 3-0 Broncos.

Patrick leads the Broncos with two touchdown receptions and he’s second on the team with 174 receiving yards. He’s also tied with Fant for a team-second 12 receptions. Bridgewater targeted Patrick 13 times in the first three games, and he hauled in 12 of those passes.

Dalton Schultz

The Dallas Cowboys whooped the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Schultz lit up the Eagles for six catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

With tight ends, it’s always feast or famine in fantasy football. However, Schultz emerged as a reliable target for Dak Prescott. In Week 1, Prescott and Schultz hooked up for six receptions for 45 yards. In Week 2, Schultz only caught two passes for 18 yards.

Zack Moss

The Buffalo Bills have another offensive juggernaut this season and quarterback Josh Allen has numerous weapons at his disposal. The Bills tapped Devin Singletary as their primary running back with Moss behind him on the depth chart. However, Allen could easily be their top rusher any given Sunday even though he’s the quarterback.

Through three games, Singletary leads the Bills with 180 rushing yards on 35 carries with one touchdown. Allen rushed for 88 yards with one touchdown on only 18 carries, which were mostly scrambles and broken plays.

Meanwhile, Moss rushed 21 times for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns. As a third-down back, Moss added five receptions for 39 yards and another touchdown. He currently leads the Bills with three combined touchdowns.
