If you’re seeking waiver wire pickups to bolster your fantasy football roster for Week 13, then consider RB Benny Snell, Jr. (Pittsburgh Steelers), QB Sam Darnold (NY Jets), WR Robby Anderson (NY Jets), and TE Ryan Griffin (NY Jets).

The New York Jets (4-7), also widely known as the LOLJets, don’t garner much respect in the league. The stigma of the Jets means you’ll find Sam Darnold, and most of the Jets offense, available on the waiver wire.

The Jets are one of the hottest teams in the NFL with a three-game winning streak. While on the upswing, the Jets face a pair of bottom feeders over the next two weeks. In Week 13, the Jets fly to Cincinnati to play the winless Bengals (0-11). In Week 14, the Jets face the Miami Dolphins in an effort to avenge an embarrassing Week 9 loss.

The banged-up Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5) are in the thick of the playoff hunt. Over the next two weeks, the Steelers face teams that can’t stop the run, which is great news for rookie RB, Benny Snell. The Cleveland Browns are on deck, and their run defense is ranked eighth-worst in the NFL, allowing 124.0 yards per game. The Steelers play the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14, and the Cards allow 117.6 rushing yards per game, which is 10th-worst in the NFL.

Starter James Conner missed another game with a nagging shoulder injury. Snell returned from the IL in Week 12, and seized the opportunity for more playing time. With Conner on the sidelines, Snell is the next man up for head coach Mike Tomlin.

Benny Snell, Rookie from Kentucky

Snell made a name for himself last season while he led the Kentucky Wildcats to sizzling 5-0 start as the big surprise in the SEC. Kentucky football went on a once-in-a-generation run, mostly due to Snell’s running ability.

Snell seized his opportunity during a Week 6 victory against the LA Chargers. The rookie rushed for 75 on only 17 carries. He incurred a bad beat when he injured his knee during the next game against the Miami Dolphins.

Snell returned to the lineup after missing three weeks while recovering from surgery to repair the meniscus tear. He looked as good as new, with 98 yards on 21 carries against the Cincy Bengals.

Snell has yet to score his first NFL touchdown. He averages 4.4 yards per carry, and got the bulk of his touches in two games.

While Duck Hodges struggles to pass the ball, the Steelers will resort to smash-mouth football in a rematch against the Browns in Week 13. Both teams beat the crap out of each other in those AFC North throwdowns. Snell has fresh legs, and he’s hungry for his first touchdown.

Sam Darnold, Ghostbuster

Darnold the ghostbuster showed up to work last week with four touchdowns against the Washington Redskins. Darnold’s confidence bubbled over into Week 12 with two more passing touchdowns, and another rushing score.

During the Jets three-game winning streak, Darnold threw seven touchdowns and only one interception. Head coach, Adam Gase and Darnold tweaked the playbook, and the Jets have seen remarkable results. The worst offense in the NFL exploded for 102 points in the last three games.

In their three prior losses, the Jets scored only 33 points, and Darnold threw eight interceptions with only three touchdowns. During the infamous “seeing ghosts” game, Darnold threw four interceptions against the New England Patriots during a 33-0 shutout.

Robby Anderson and Ryan Griffin

Do you know who leads the Jets in receiving touchdowns? It’s not team captain Demaryius Thomas (zero). It’s not Robby Anderson (3 TD), nor Jamison Crowder (3 TD). Give up? Tight end, Ryan Griffin scored five touchdowns this season.

Griffin hauled in only 28 catches this season, but five were touchdowns. Over the last five games, Darnold has been looking for Griffin more often. They’ve hooked up on 19 receptions, including four touchdowns.

Robby Anderson, the Jets #2 wideout, scored touchdowns in consecutive weeks. He caught four passes for 86 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders in Week 12.

Anderson is one of the huge benefactors of a revamped playbook. When Darnold plays well and spreads the ball around, guys like Anderson gain more scoring opportunities.

Both Griffin and Anderson are worthy waiver wire pick ups in Week 13.
