We have a tasty selection of Friday night games in college football this week, with some Power 5 schools facing off against FCS opponents. That could make for some eye-popping totals both on the scoreboard, and in DFS. FanDuel is forgoing the Arizona State–Sacramento State game, which I plan to target on DraftKings.

Quarterbacks

Jayden Daniels, Arizona State ($6,700 on DK, Game not on FD) – The Sun Devils may be the highest-scoring team on the slate, as oddsmakers expect them to score around 50 against overmatched Sacramento State. Daniels, a true freshman, was solid against Kent State last week with 284 yards passing, including two touchdowns, and one rushing TD. Despite that, he is just moderately priced in this slate, and should provide great value.

Hollis Mathis, William & Mary ($4,800 on DK, $7,400 on FD) – With so many high-powered and high-priced options on the slate, I’m taking a flier on a cheap QB for salary relief. William & Mary has, surprisingly, played pretty well against Virginia over the years, and scored 30 points last week after averaging less than 14 points per game in 2018. In addition, Mathis is a running QB who rushed more times (16) than he threw (13) in the season opener. This is, admittedly, a shot in the dark, but it’s these types of shots that can win tournaments.

Running backs

Eno Benjamin, Arizona State ($9,600 on DK, Game not on FD) – There should be enough points to go around for Arizona State so that we can play both a QB and RB from the same team. Daniels liked targeting Benjamin in his first collegiate game, connecting with his starting RB on three passes for 32 yards and a TD.

Robert Mahone, Boise State ($4,700 on DK, $10,200 on FD) – Mahone shined against Florida State last week, rushing 24 times for 142 yards and two TDs, and catching a pass for 27 yards. Although Marshall features a pretty good rushing defense, Mahone can easily hit value with his low price tag, especially with Vegas anticipating the Broncos scoring 34 points on Friday. While Mahone is the highest-priced RB on FanDuel, he is incredibly underpriced on DraftKings, making him the play of the day on there.

Wide receivers

Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State ($6,000 on DK, Game not on FD) – I’m going back to the Sun Devils for my first wide receiver pick. Aiyuk appears to be Daniels’ favorite deep threat, catching four passes for 140 yards and a TD last week. Like Daniels, he is moderately priced despite the anticipation that Arizona State will put up big points this week.

Kendall Hinton, Wake Forest ($5,900 on DK, $8,400 on FD) – Another great WR value is Hinton, who caught a whopping nine passes last week against Utah State. His 66 total yards and one TD added up to 21.6 points on DK. Experts expect Wake to have its way with Rice on Friday, so Hinton is worth a look as Jamie Newman’s favorite receiver.
