There is no clear evidence, the suspects are issuing denials, and even the supposed victim isn’t providing any information. But that doesn’t mean gamblers around the world aren’t ready to place their bets on one of the biggest questions on social media this week: who bit Beyoncé?

That might seem like an unusual question to ask, but “Bitegate” began after actress Tiffany Haddish claimed in an interview with GQ that another unnamed actress chomped on the superstar singer’s face at a party in Los Angeles last December. The after party was part of the 4:44 tour for Beyoncé’s husband, rapper and mogul Jay-Z.

“There was this actress there, that’s just, like, doing the mostest,” Haddish said in the interview. “She bit Beyoncé in the face.”

Biter Remains Mystery

Haddish’s account features a dramatic storming away by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as well as a later conversation between Haddish and the singer in which the incident was supposedly confirmed. Haddish says that Beyonce urged her not to retaliate, instead telling her to “chill” as the actress wasn’t normally like this, and that she was “on drugs.”

Haddish claims that she knows the identity of the actress, but is prevented from revealing it by a non-disclosure agreement.

“NDAs are real, so I’m not saying shit about nothing,” Haddish said during an Instagram Live stream for her followers.

Unusual Suspects

While there have been many suspects that have been the target of speculation over the bite, three appear to have gotten the lion’s share of the attention – and all three have already issued denials.

First, there’s Sanaa Lathan, who starred in Love and Basketball. She laughed off the accusations on Twitter.

“Y’all are funny,” Lathan tweeted on Monday. “Under no circumstances did I bite Beyonce and if I did it would’ve been a love bite.”

Model and actress Sara Foster was also seen as a prime suspect by many internet detectives. But she also issued a pithy denial on Instagram, saying that it was “flattering that anyone thinks I could get this close to Beyoncé.”

Another actress who has gotten a lot of attention is Girls star and creator Lena Dunham. But while Dunham is certainly known for being outlandish, she says that even she doesn’t have the gall to sink her teeth into Queen Bey.

“As the patron saint of ‘She would do that,’” Dunham tweeted, “I didn’t.”

Despite those denials, however, that trio seems to be at the center of the speculation surrounding the mystery biter, and bookmakers are lining up to take bets on the incident. At Paddy Power, Dunham is the 2/1 favorite, followed closely by Lathan (7/2). Meanwhile, BoyleSports has posted Foster as the favorite at 3/2 odds, with Rihanna and Queen Latifah in the mix at 6/1.

Of course, no bets can be paid off unless someone gets confirmation on who actually did the biting. And while there’s one source that could absolutely settle the debate, her team isn’t talking – at least for now.

“I absolutely cannot comment on any of this, as I have no knowledge,” a spokesperson for Beyoncé told GQ.
