If you want to play Lamar Jackson or Dalvin Cook this week, you’ll need to dig deeper into the salary pool in other roster spots to afford the high-priced guys. As always, I’m here to help with five cheap DFS plays under $5,000 on DraftKings. Let’s dig in.

Myles Gaskin (Dolphin Nation)

Myles Gaskin, Dolphins RB ($5,000)

The Dolphins used their running backs as a committee in the first two games, but turned almost exclusively to Gaskin in Week 3 against the Jaguars. The second-year back carried 22 times for 66 yards and caught five passes for 29 yards. That increased volume bodes well heading into a matchup with the Seahawks, a team involved in multiple shootouts already in the young season.

Rex Burkhead, Patriots RB ($4,800)

New England loves to hit its backs with dump-off passes, and Burkhead is quickly becoming the beneficiary. While he only carried the ball six times against the Raiders last week, Burkhead caught seven passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. That followed a Week 2 outing with four receptions. A running back who catches a lot of passes is a valuable commodity, especially on DraftKings, making Burkhead one of the best cheap DFS plays of the week.

Hunter Renfrow, Raiders WR ($4,600)

Las Vegas’ offense lacks healthy players. Darren Waller is playing through a bum knee, while Josh Jacobs nurses a sore hip. Henry Ruggs is expected to miss a second game with an injured knee and hamstring, while Bryan Edwards left the last game early due to an ankle injury. This all bodes well for Renfrow, who caught six passes for 84 yards and a TD last week, narrowly missing a second touchdown when he was ruled down at the 1-yard-line.

Sammy Watkins, Chiefs WR ($4,400)

Last season, Watkins blew up in Week 1 and faded badly as the season progressed. That appeared likely to happen again in 2020 after the first two weeks, but then Watkins corralled seven of eight targets for 62 yards against the Ravens. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes targeted Watkins 20 times over the first three games, making Watkins a nice value at this price facing a Patriots defense that ranks just 27th in the league against opposing wide receivers in DFS.

Dalton Schultz, Cowboys TE ($4,300)

While the Cowboys receiving corps appears to have plenty of mouths to feed, quarterback Dak Prescott is doing a good job of making sure no one goes hungry in this high-octane, pass-heavy offense. Schultz has seen 20 targets in the first three games, catching 14 of them. He’s snagged just one touchdown pass, but if the targets continue, that will change. It could start this week against a Cleveland D that’s already allowed 22 catches and three touchdowns by tight ends in three weeks.
