Rob Gronkowksi, performing in a White Tiger costume, failed to advance to the next round on the popular karaoke television series, “The Masked Singer,” which appears on FOX on Wednesday nights. Gronk, as the White Tiger, busted from “The Masked Singer” when his performance of “I’m Too Sexy” (by one-hit wonder Right Said Fred) fell flat.

Gronk retired from the New England Patriots at the end of the 2018 season after securing a victory in Super Bowl 53. He utilized his downtime to his advantage by appearing on the reality show, “The Masked Singer,” along with pivoting to pro wrestling.

Gronk is slated to host WrestleMania 36. The WWE moved the annual event from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida to its own training facility in Orlando. The annual event will now be spread out over two days. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the WWE said the show must go on.

Gronk: I’m Too Sexy

Gronk fared well in the preliminaries and secured a spot in the Super 9, but that’s where his run came to an end.

In the first episode of this year’s season, Gronk, as the White Tiger, advanced by performing “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice. Later on, he performed “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and “We Will Rock You” by Queen.

While many of the other performers are still unknown, the prevailing sentiment heading into the Super 9 was that Gronk was the White Tiger.

When Gronk was unmasked at the end of the episode, no one was actually surprised to see him grooving on “The Masked Singer.” All signs pointed to the future Hall of Fame tight end based on his dance moves, sheer size, and fairly obvious clues such as a picture of a cow on skis.

Frog and Kitty Favorites

The field for this season’s competition featured three different groups. Only three singers from each group advanced to the Super 9, or the consolidation of all three groups.

The White Tiger (aka Gronk) survived every cut in Group A. Heading into the Super 9, oddsmakers pegged the White Tiger as one of the weakest remaining contestants. When the White Tiger (Gronk) failed to impress the judges with his rendition of “I’m Too Sexy,” he was officially dunzo.

Heading into this week’s episode, BetOnline listed the White Tiger at +2200 on the money line or 22/1 odds. Only the Banana (+4000) and the Rhino (+6600) had worse odds with nine contestants remaining.

Masked Singer Odds – Super 9
Frog -200
Kitty +325
Turtle +600
Astronaut +900
Night Angel +1000
Kangaroo +1200
White Tiger +2200
Banana +4000
Rhino +6600

The Frog and Kitty were the top-two favorites heading into the Super 9. As expected, both easily advanced to the Elite 8.

The bookies listed the Frog as the clear favorite at -200 odds. Many music industry insiders who are fans of the show suspect that Bow Wow is the man behind the masked Frog. Thus far, the Frog performed bumping hip-hop classics from MC Hammer and 50 Cent.

Kitty is the second favorite at +325 odds. Elizabeth Gillies is among the most popular guesses for Kitty. Gillies is a former Broadway singer who currently appears on “Dynasty,” on the CW Network. Kitty sang songs by Ariana Grande, Miranda Lambert, and Brett Young.
