The Orlando Magic (7-35) are the worst team in the NBA this season and they extended their most-recent losing streak to 10 in a row after dropping back-to-back games to the Washington Wizards.

The Magic lost to the Wizards 112-106 last night, and lost to the Wizards by two points on Sunday. The Wizards played both games without leading-scorer Bradley Beal, who was out due to COVID.

Cole Anthony fell short of a triple-double for the Magic last night. Anthony tallied 19 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists in the loss.

“What I like the most about what Cole did tonight was, his shot wasn’t falling early on,” said Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley. “You look at him having nine assists, and then doing things that we’ve asked him to do on the glass.”

Cole leads the team with 19.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game. Rookie Franz Wagner averages 15.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Chasing 10 wins

There are a handful of bad teams, this season like the Detroit Pistons (9-31), Houston Rockets (12-31), and Oklahoma City Thunder (13-27). However, the Magic are simply atrocious with a .167 winning percentage.

At their current rate, the Magic might not win their 10th game of the season until mid-February. It’s so bad in Orlando that the Magic might not win three more games before the All-Star Break.

In two different times earlier this season, the Magic hit the rails with seven-game losing streaks. They had one victory sandwiched in between, and went 1-14 during an ugly four-week stretch.

The Magic have yet to embark on a legitimate winning streak. They won back-to-back games only once this season during a road trip in late December when most of the league struggled with COVID-19 outbreaks. Since their last win shortly before Christmas, the Magic dropped 10 games in a row to extend their losing streak to double digits.

The Magic have two more road games this week against the Charlotte Hornets (23-19) and Dallas Mavericks (22-19) before a home/away game early next week versus the banged-up Portland Trail Blazers (16-24) and Philadelphia 76ers (23-17). Starting next Friday, the Magic host a five-game homestand in which they’ll chase 10 wins.

Magic Number: 100

The Magic are the third-lowest scoring team in the NBA, averaging 101.8 ppg. They failed to reach the century mark at least 18 times this season, and all 18 of those sub-100-point games were losses. In all seven victories this season, the Magic scored at least 100 points.

During their current 10-game losing streak, the Magic fell short of 100 points three times. Their offense is finally coming together, but their defense let the Magic down by allowing 110-plus points six times during their losing streak.

The Magic are 2-15 at home in Orlando this season, with their last home victory occurring on Dec. 1. It’s no shocker that the Magic have the worst home record and the worst road record in the NBA this season. They suck equally everywhere they play.

The Magic are 19-23 ATS this season and 21-21 in over/under totals betting. During their current losing streak, the Magic went 5-5 ATS and went 6-4 in hitting the over.
