Week 2 of the NFL season is known as “Overreaction week” across the board, so will the public fawn over dogs again? Or will the market capitulate and recorrect itself?

Home Cats: Jags and Panthers

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) are +6 dogs for their home opener at TIAA Bank Field against the Denver Broncos (1-0). Trevor Lawrence lost to the Houston Texans in his pro debut. He passed for 332 yards by unleashed 51 pass attempts and connected on only 28 to eight different receivers. He tosses three touchdowns in Week 1, but also three interceptions.

The Broncos won their season opener on the road against the New York Giants. Teddy Bridgewater looked good in his Broncos debut with 264 yards and two touchdowns. The Broncos will miss Jerry Jeudy (high-ankle sprain) in Week 2 against the Jaguars, but Bridgewater still has three capable targets with Tim Patrick, KJ Hamler, and Noah Fant.

The Carolina Panthers (1-0) defeated the New York Jets in Week 1. Sam Darnold enacted a bit of revenge against his old squad. The Panthers are +3.5 home dogs when they host the revamped New Orleans Saints in Week 2. Are the Saints legit after a 38-3 blowout against the Green Bay Packers? Or did the Saints just catch Aaron Rodgers and the Packers on a truly horrible day?

Noobs and Fresh Starts: Jets and Colts

The New York Jets are trying to avoid an 0-2 hole, but they come into Week 2 as a +5.5 home dog against the New England Patriots. This matchup features a pair of rookie quarterbacks with Mac Jones leading the Patriots into battle against Zach Wilson and the Jets. Will it be the same old LOLJets? The public thinks so because they keep pounding the Patriots in Week 2 and the lines moved to Jets +6 in some including the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas.

The Indianapolis Colts (0-1) and Carson Wentz dropped their opening game against the Seattle Seahawks when Russell Wilson rocked them for four touchdowns. In Week 2, they host the Los Angeles Rams. Even with the Rams are a west coast team playing an early game, the Colts are +3.5 home dogs. If the Colts do not tighten up their secondary, Matthew Stafford will have a feast. Stafford and Wentz meet in only their second game with their new respective teams. Stafford eyes a Super Bowl with the Rams, while Wentz tries to revitalize his career after an injury-plagued stint in Philly.

Birds and Fish: Dolphins, Eagles, Ravens

The Miami Dolphins (1-0) edged out the New England Patriots in the season opener and was one of the nine dogs from Week 1 to win outright. The Dolphins have another AFC East battle for their home opener when the Buffalo Bills (0-1) come to south Florida. The Dolphins are a +3.5 home dog against a Bills squad seeking their first win of the season.

Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) crushed the Atlanta Falcons 32-6 in Week 1 thanks to three touchdowns from Jalen Hurts. The Eagles find themselves a +3.5 home dog against the San Francisco 49ers (1-0). The Niners will not have starting running back Raheem Mostert, who will miss the remainder of the season due to knee surgery, but backup Elijah Mitchell rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown in his rookie debut.

The Baltimore Ravens play another nationally televised game. They lost a tough one to the Las Vegas Raiders in overtime on Monday Night Football. In Week 2, they face the high-octane Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. The Ravens are a rare home dog at +3.5.
