The Miami Heat are the betting favorite to win the NBA Southeast Division at -125 odds ahead of the Atlanta Hawks, who are +135 odds to secure back-to-back division crowns.

Since the NBA created the Southeast Division at the start of the 2004-05 season, the Charlotte Hornets have never won a divisional title. Four other teams won the division at least once since 2017, including the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards. The Hornets are +1500 odds to make history with their first-ever Southeast title.

NBA Southeast Division Odds
  • Miami Heat -125
  • Atlanta Hawks +135
  • Charlotte Hornets +1500
  • Washington Wizards +2500
  • Orlando Magic +15000

The Heat are +900 odds to win the Eastern Conference for the second time in three seasons and return to the NBA Finals. The Heat are +2500 odds to win the 2022 NBA championship.

The Hawks are +1500 odds to run the table in the Eastern Conference playoffs and secure a spot in the NBA Finals. The Hawks are +3500 odds to win the NBA title.

Miami Heat -125

The Miami Heat took a flier on Victor Oladipo last season, which didn’t pan out when the injury-plagued Oladipo appeared in only five games. The Heat finally acquired Kyle Lowry, who will team up with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in an attempt to rep the East in the NBA Finals for the second time since 2020. The public has been backing the Heat heavily ever since Lowry joined them in a sign-and-trade with the Toronto Raptors. If you like numerology, then the Heat won the Southeast in even years since 2012. Right now, Butler and the Heat are only -125 odds to win the Southeast.

Atlanta Hawks +135

The Atlanta Hawks were the surprise team in the Eastern Conference playoffs last season as the #5 seed. They got hot at the right time and went all the way to the Eastern Conference finals before the Milwaukee Bucks ended their auspicious run. In the opening round, Trae Young led the Hawks to a big series win over the New York Knicks. Along the way, Young emerged as Madison Square Garden’s latest villain, joining the ranks of Gotham heels like Reggie Miller. The Hawks won the Southeast last season, but they’re only +135 odds to secure consecutive division titles.

Charlotte Hornets +1500

The Charlotte Hornets have a couple of young and exciting players to keep an eye on, including 2020 Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball, PJ Washington, and Miles Bridges. Buzz City has a reliable veteran and two-way guard with Terry Rozier. Their big question mark is Gordon Hayward, who’s a magnet for injuries. When Hayward is healthy, the Hornets can hold their own against the big dogs in the East. However, it’s only a matter of time before Hayward hits the IL with some sort of malady. That’s why the Hornets are +1500 odds to win the Southeast Division.

Washington Wizards +2500

It’s a one-man show in DC once again. Bradley Beal, one of the NBA’s premier scorers, missed out on a scoring title in the final weekend of the regular season. The Washington Wizards shipped Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers in a huge trade where they netted a couple of solid role players like Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The Wizards also added Spencer Dinwiddie to the roster, but even if he remains healthy, the Wiz aren’t a real threat to upset the balance of power within the division or conference. That’s why the Wizards are +2500 odds to win the Southwest Division.

Orlando Magic +15000

The Orlando Magic are in rebuilding mode this season after they gutted the team before last season’s trade deadline. Oddsmakers expect the Magic will be the worst team in the NBA once again, and they have the lowest win total (22.5 o/u) in the league. On the plus side, the Magic have a young backcourt with Cole Anthony and their top draft pick Jalen Suggs (from Gonzaga). Sadly, their young and budding stars will be the doormat of the Southeast once again at +15000 long-shot odds to win the division.
