It didn’t take long before injuries began claiming star NFL players, as several notables went down last week. Their absences will give backups (and lower-salaried DFS players) a chance to start and accumulate some fantasy points in Week 3. That could be especially helpful to us at the quarterback position this week.

Here are five under $5,000 to consider on DraftKings this week:

Jacoby Brissett, Dolphins QB ($4,900)

Brissett will fill in for the injured Tua Tagovailoa in Week 3. While one wouldn’t necessarily expect Brissett to make much noise in DFS, he has a few factors working in his favor: a cheap salary, low ownership, the porous Raiders defense, and the likely Dolphins debut of wide receiver Will Fuller.

Leonard Fournette, Buccaneers RB ($5,000)

While Fournette splits time with Ronald Jones in the backfield, he’s getting most of the work. Most importantly, he’s frequently targeted by quarterback Tom Brady, with nine receptions in the first two games. His DFS totals have been held back by a lack of touchdowns, but a regression to the mean could yield a nice day in Week 3 against the Rams.

Cordarrelle Patterson, Falcons RB ($4,600)

Like Fournette, Patterson’s value lies in his ability to catch the ball. He enjoyed a big day last week against the Buccaneers, with five receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown. While Patterson won’t get massive usage in the ground game each week, his pass-catching ability makes him worthy of consideration on DraftKings. The Week 3 matchup will see the Falcons take on the Giants, whose D is bad both against the rush and pass.

Rondale Moore, Cardinals WR ($5,000)

The rookie from Purdue has quickly assimilated into the Arizona offense, with MVP frontrunner Kyler Murray targeting Moore 13 times in two games. That’s yielded 11 receptions for 182 yards and a TD. The Cardinals should score early and often in Week 3 against a Jaguars team that’s one of the worst in the NFL.

Kyle Pitts, Falcons TE ($4,900)

Many DFS players jumped off of the Pitts train too early. A trendy pick in Week 1, Pitts didn’t do much in his NFL debut. But last week, he notched five receptions on six targets for 73 yards. The Giants defense he will face this Sunday ranks just 29th in the league against opposing tight ends in DFS.
