Last week’s DFS value plays didn’t hit it big, with the Falcons’ new tight end Hayden Hurst being overshadowed by the big days posted by the team’s wide receivers, and the 49ers focusing on the ground game, leaving Kendrick Bourne with precious few targets.
This week, no starting quarterback is priced at $5,000 or below on DraftKings, so the DFS value plays will start at running back.
D’Andre Swift, Lions RB ($4,900)
He proved to be the goat on Sunday when he dropped an easy catch that could have won the game against the Bears, but the team’s trust in the rookie showed when he led the running back stable in snaps. Most importantly, Matthew Stafford targeted Swift five times, and point-per-reception scoring on DK could lead to nice DFS point totals for Swift going forward.
CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys WR ($4,700)
Lamb caught five balls on six targets for 59 yards in his debut on Sunday. While Amari Cooper is the unquestioned No. 1 receiver in the Dallas offense, Lamb – whose explosiveness clearly showed during his time at Oklahoma – could put on a show some Sundays. This week, against the porous Atlanta pass defense, may be his next opportunity.
Scotty Miller, Buccaneers WR ($4,100)
Miller may be Tom Brady’s new favorite receiver, a target for short passes much as Julian Edelman was for the QB in New England. Miller caught five of six targets for 73 yards against the Saints. Bucs receiver Chris Godwin didn’t practice on Thursday, suffering from a concussion, and likely won’t play this week against the Panthers. That should open up more opportunities for Miller. He may be the best of the DFS value plays on Sunday.
Darius Slayton, Giants WR ($5,000)
The Giants mostly looked lifeless in a 26-16 loss to the Steelers in Week 1, but Slayton showed great chemistry with quarterback Daniel Jones. The second-year receiver caught six passes for 102 yards and two TDs. Slayton looks to build on a rookie campaign that saw him score eight touchdowns on 50 catches for 750 yards.
Jonnu Smith, Titans TE ($4,200)
Smith has risen to the No. 1 spot on the Tennessee depth chart, and hauled in four of seven targets for 36 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos. That could be a sign of big things to come in 2020 for the tight end who has never topped 45 targets in a season.
