There won’t be any celebrities playing alongside the pros at Pebble Beach this year, and the field may leave something to desire. But, there’s still a full weekend of action on tap for bettors to enjoy at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which begins on Thursday.
World No. 1 Dustin Johnson withdrew from the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Monday after winning the Saudi International, leaving the tournament a bit short on star power.
Form, History Make Cantlay Pebble Beach Favorite
Only three of the top-20 players in the world are attending the event, though other big names like Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, and Jason Day are competing as well. A few celebrities will tee it up at Pebble Beach, but only on Wednesday, in a match-play event for the AT&T Every Shot Counts Charity Challenge.
Patrick Cantlay currently sits at No. 11 in the Official World Golf Ranking, making him the highest-ranked player at Pebble Beach this weekend. He’s also the clear betting favorite: DraftKings Sportsbook lists Cantlay as a +750 pick to win the tournament, significantly ahead of Daniel Berger (+1400) and Paul Casey (+1400), the other two top-20 golfers in the field.
Cantlay has played well at Pebble Beach, finishing tied for 11th here last year, and has historically performed well in windy conditions, which could set him up for success this weekend. He’s also in good form, finishing just one shot behind Kim Si-woo at the American Express two weeks ago.
“I always like being up here in Monterey,†Cantlay said, via Golfweek. “Even though it’s cold this time of year, I like playing Pebble Beach. I like Spyglass. So I’m excited for this year … My game’s been good. Obviously how I played my last round on Tour was unbelievable, even I was a little surprised I was able to shoot 11-under on that golf course. But I think it bodes well for the future.â€
Will Zalatoris could also make waves at Pebble Beach this weekend. Zalatoris played on the Korn Ferry Tour last year, but started this season by finishing tied for sixth at the US Open. Since then, he’s earned spots in nine events on the PGA Tour thanks to top-10 finishes and sponsor exemptions.
Riding Momentum, Zalatoris Seeks First Tour Win
Most recently, Zalatoris finished tied for 17th in the Waste Management Phoenix Open last weekend. Those results have pushed him to 49th in the world rankings, which could earn him berths in tournaments like the World Golf Championship, The Players Championship, and even the Masters.

DraftKings rated Zalatoris as the +1800 fourth choice to win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this weekend. And while his results have been outstanding, Zalatoris remains on tour as a special temporary member, meaning that finding his first win would come with huge benefits for him.
“I could finish second the next 25 weeks in a row and still not make the FedEx Cup playoffs,†Zalatoris told reporters. “So, every week I’ve got a chance to go out and tee it up and, hopefully, win and get myself in those playoffs.â€
