The New York Jets continued their winless ways with a 34-28 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, who were unable to put away the LOL Jets and let them in the backdoor to cover the 10-point spread.

Heading into Week 11, the Chargers were one of two losing teams on the Jets’ remaining schedule. Now that the Jets failed to secure a road win in Hollywood, the New England Patriots are the only team with a losing record left on the schedule. The Jets will face Bill Belichick and the Patriots in Week 17 at Foxboro.

Frank Gore, 37, is a 16-year veteran who might be playing in his last season as a running back. A frustrated Gore voiced his displeasure at being the laughingstock of the league.

“You don’t want to go 0-16, especially if this is my last year,” said Gore. “I can’t go out like that. Hopefully, we can get one. And I can’t wait until we get it. I’ll be so happy. If it is my last year, I can’t say I’m going out 0-16.”

Only two other teams in the history of the NFL went winless in a 16-game season. The 2017 Cleveland Browns were the last team to finish winless. The 2008 Detroit Lions were also 0-16 and used the #1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft to select QB Matt Stafford.

The 1-9 Jacksonville Jaguars pose the biggest threat to the Jets. The Cincinnati Bengals are the only two-win team in the NFL. The Bengals might not win another game after losing last year’s #1 draft pick, QB Joe Burrow, who went down with a gruesome knee injury.

Herbert Torches Gang Green

With Burrow out for the remainder of the season, Justin Herbert is the current favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year. The La Chargers quarterback lit up the Jets. He completed 37-of-49 passes for 366 passing yards, threw three touchdown passes, and didn’t throw an interception.

Herbert connected with Keenan Allen 16 times for 145 yards and a touchdown.

“He threw it on a rope, and it was a dime,” said Allen.

The 16 receptions marked a career-high for Allen and set the all-time record for the Chargers.

“We just had it going,” said Allen. “Coach kept calling my number, and Justin kept throwing me the ball.”

“Any time you have a guy like that on the football field, you’re going to try and get him the ball because something special is going to happen,” said Herbert.

Mike Williams caught four receptions for 72 yards, including a touchdown strike. Tight end Hunter Henry added four receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Overall, Herbert completed passes to eight different players. Herbet’s 22 touchdowns now rank him #6 overall in the league.

Fade the Jets: Hollyweird Fail

We launched Operation Fade the Jets earlier in the season as an emotional hedge and, sort of a joke. We were going to bet against the LOL Jets every week until the team fired inept head coach Adam Gase. After the team decided to stick with Gase during the bye week, it was 100% apparent that he would coach the team to the end of the season.

Jets fans who operate in the conspiratorial zone are convinced the Johnson family is sticking with Gase to ensure the team will tank and finish with the worst record in the NFL in order to land QB Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft. Of course, fans also know you can’t even trust the LOL Jets to tank properly, and that Gase is so inept that he’d screw that up.

FADE THE LOL JETS
  • Week 10: LA Chargers 34, NY Jets 28
  • Point Spread: LAC -10
  • Jets Record: 0-10 SU, 3-7 ATS
  • Fade the Jets Record: 7-3

Heading into Week 12, the Jets are 0-10 and have the inside track on the #1 pick. Their next five opponents all have winning records and are all in the playoff hunt (Dolphins, Raiders, Seahawks, Rams, and Browns).

The Jets almost picked off the New England Patriots in Week 9 during a meeting on Monday Night Football. Cam Newton and the Pats prevailed on a last-second field goal as time expired.

On Deck: Here Come the Fish

In Week 12, the Jets host their AFC East foe, the Miami Dolphins. It’s a rematch of a Week 6 meeting in which the Dolphins shut out the Jets 24-0. As bad as the Jets have been in 2020, they were only shut out once.

This time though, the Dolphins will visit MetLife Stadium and its janky field. If the Jets were to pull off a miracle win in the next five weeks, the Dolphins could be the team they knock down.

The Dolphins (6-4) head into Week 12 on shaky ground. Head coach Brian Flores benched rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa after a terrible performance against the Denver Broncos. He tapped Ryan Fitzpatrick to relieve Tua, but even FitzMagic couldn’t pull off the comeback victory, and the Dolphins lost 20-13.

The LOL Jets opened as a +7 home dog against the Dolphins next Sunday. We shall continue to fade the team.
