Let’s run down the injured starting quarterbacks:

  • Andy Dalton from the Chicago Bears dinged his knee. He has a bone bruise and missed practice this week. Rookie Justin Fields, the future of Da Bears, will get his first NFL start. The Bears were hoping to wait a couple more weeks before they handed over the keys to Fields, but injury is opportunity.
  • Tua Tagovailoa suffered fractured ribs in a blowout against the Buffalo Bills. Backup Jacoby Brissett will take over as starting quarterback in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
  • Carson Wentz suffered not one, but two sprained ankles last week against the LA Rams. Jacob Eason tossed an interception on his second-career pass, but he’ll get a full week of practice reps to prepare against the Tennessee Titans as the potential Colts’ Week 3 starter. If Wentz starts, it’s a game-time decision.
  • Tyrod Taylor from the Houston Texans injured his hamstring in the first half against the Cleveland Browns. Rookie Davis Mills finished the game and the backup quarterback gets his first career start in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football. The Texans and Davis are home dogs in his debut start.
