Week 2 of the NFL was much less crazy than the opening week from a DFS perspective, as fewer players put up video-game like numbers. The winning $1 million score on FanDuel on Sunday was 205.32 from user onelove2251, about 35 points less than the winning score in Week 1.

My picks mostly fared well, if not spectacularly.

Cheers

Pat Mahomes had another monster day, passing for 443 yards (most in the NFL) and four touchdowns, worth 31.52 points on FD. The biggest beneficiary of his tosses was wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, who was less than 1 percent owned, but rewarded his fantasy owners with two TD catches and 172 yards receiving. Many players faded Sammy Watkins on Sunday, but chose Mecole Hardman of the Chiefs instead

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen had a solid day, with 253 yards passing, while throwing for one TD and rushing for another. He had just 21 yards rushing, and we would have hoped for more in that category.

Bengals receiver John Ross III had another big day, largely aided by a last-minute 66-yard TD pass from Andy Dalton to pad his stats. Overall, Ross caught four passes for 112 yards and that touchdown. Watch out next week, though, as A.J. Green may be back on the field.

Tight end Travis Kelce brought nearly 4x value on DK, scoring 26.7 points on his $7,300 salary with seven catches for 107 yards and a TD and the three-point bonus for eclipsing 100 receiving yards. He should be in consideration almost every week considering how well-oiled that Chiefs offensive machine is.

Jeers

Josh Jacobs didn’t get the expected workload for the Raiders. While he carried the rock 23 times in Week 1 against the Broncos, he got just 12 against the Chiefs on Sunday. It didn’t help that the Raiders fell behind. Jacobs also didn’t catch a pass, not that Derek Carr usually throws it to him very much. The real bad beat was that Jacobs had 100 yards after 11 carries, but lost a yard on his final rush, meaning that DraftKings players who drafted him lost their three-point bonus for a 100-yard rushing day with the negative play.

It was not a good day for my running backs as Alvin Kamara got shut down by the Rams, with just 45 rushing yards and 15 receiving yards. To be fair the entire Saints team was shut down, scoring just nine points. Obviously, Drew Brees’ injury didn’t help.

I thought hard about completely fading Lions rookie tight end TJ Hockenson on Sunday because he seemed like he’d be too popular given his min-priced salary and breakout Week 1, but I did play him in some lineups to my detriment. Hockenon caught just one pass for seven yards on Sunday as a ghost on the field watching Kenny Golladay have a monster game.

Meh

There was nothing wrong with the day of Bills receiver John Brown, as he caught seven passes for 72 receptions, but we need those TDs to score big in DFS and he didn’t have any. His 14.2 points on DK was not quite 3x value and we crave more to go after the big money.
