It was a great week for value plays in NFL DFS this week, with a number of cheaply salaried players putting up big scores. And higher-priced players like Nick Chubb excelled after a few mediocre first few weeks of the season.

Cheers

Critics complained that Wayne Gallman, Jr. was gifted a couple of touchdown opportunities, but at the end of the day the total DFS points score is all that matters, and he put up 28.8 points on DraftKings on a $4,600 salary, returning more than 6x value. Even taking away his two TDs he still would have returned about 4x value.

Another value-priced player who bore fruit was Seahawks tight end Will Dissly, who caught seven passes for 57 yards and a TD. Yet again, a tight end smashed the Cardinals. Dissly’s 18.7 DFS points on DK was more than 5x value on his $3,600 salary.

Although the Chargers defense didn’t put up massive numbers, the team’s five sacks, one interception and 10 points allowed to the Dolphins provided solid DFS points. It’s really a guessing game week-to-week on which D is going to get a pick-six or fumble recovery for a TD.

Jeers

Mark Ingram figured to be the star running back in the Browns-Ravens game, but instead it was Nick Chubb, who rushed for 165 yards and three TDs. Ingram managed just 71 rushing yards, one reception, one fumble lost and a two-point conversion.

Yes, the Chargers easily handled the Dolphins 30-10 on Sunday, but wide receiver Kennan Allen wasn’t a big part of it. He caught just five passes for 48 yards after averaging nearly 10 receptions per game the first three weeks of the season. That was worth just 7.3 points on FanDuel.

The story was similar for Tyler Lockett with Seattle. The wide receiver caught just four Russell Wilson passes on Sunday after nabbing 11 receptions the week before. The Seahawks easily dispatched the Arizona Cardinals 27-10, but Lockett played only a small role.

Meh

Speaking of Russell Wilson, the Seahawks QB cooled down despite the weak opposition on Sunday, throwing for just 240 yards and a TD. He was a solid 22 for 28, but that doesn’t help us in DFS. Rather than air it out, Seattle opted to focus more on the ground game, running the ball nearly as much as the team passed it.
