A trio of rookie coaches is near the top of the futures board to become the next NFL Head Coach of the Year. Brandon Staley, the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, is +1000 odds to win the Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm. Arthur Smith was also tapped for his first head-coaching job in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and he’s +1400 odds to win Coach of the Year.

Urban Meyer had a super-successful career as a head coach in college, winning three national championships with the Florida Gators and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Meyer is the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and among the betting favorites at +1400 odds to win NFL Coach of the Year.

Bill Belichick from the New England Patriots is the second-biggest favorite on the board at +1200 odds. Belichick and the Patriots are about to play their second season without Tom Brady, who won Super Bowl 55 with the Tampa Bay Bucs last season.

Saleh and the Seans

Robert Saleh went to the Super Bowl as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. The New York Jets finally fired inept head coach Adam Gase and installed Saleh as the new leader for Gang Green. Saleh quickly won over the fans and the media with his first press conference, and the players already adore their new leader. You can back Saleh at +2000 odds to win Coach of the Year. The Jets are still a long way away from becoming a Super Bowl contender, but at least his hiring is a step in the right direction for the LOL Jets.

Then there are the three coaches named Sean, who are clustered together on the futures board. Pick a Sean, any Sean, and he’s +1800 odds.

Sean Payton from the New Orleans Saints is +1800 odds to win NFL Coach of the Year in his first season without Drew Brees as the starting quarterback. Sean McDermott helped turn around the Buffalo Bills and led them to their first postseason victories since Marv Levy coached the Bills in the 1990s. You can back McDermott at +1800 odds as well.

Sean McVay was a wunderkind when he took over for the LA Rams as the NFL’s youngest coach in 2017 and won Coach of the Year. He’s +1800 odds to win his second award in the last five seasons. The Rams have a new quarterback with Matthew Stafford, so expectations are high in Tinseltown.

Value town: Arians, Reid

Bruce Arians and Andy Reid won the last two Super Bowls, but both veteran head coaches are nowhere in the top 20 on the prop betting board. Both winning coaches are listed at value bets to win NFL Coach of the Year with Arians at +3000 odds and Reid a +2800 odds.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the consensus favorite to win Super bowl 56, with the Bucs right behind them with a chance to win back-to-back championships.
