It was a push for the sportsbooks in NFL Week 12, as they won on Detroit, lost on Seattle, and watched Tampa Bay hit the over for the ninth straight week.

William Hill reported that 81 percent of the tickets written were for Seattle, and 76 percent of the money wagered on that game. It was the second highest for them in both categories.

Dave Mason of BetOnline said that Seattle was huge for the Internet sportsbook.

“Yup, not even close, the Seahawks are our biggest liability by far,” Mason said. “Sixty-five of the cash on Seattle and getting the most volume, not even close.”

Scott Shelton, sportsbook supervisor at the Mirage, told Covers.com they saw a huge Seattle liability.

“It’s all Seahawks, sharp and public,” Shelton said. “Money is 10-1 and ticket count 10-1 on Seattle. I don’t really see a sizable bet on the Eagles at all.”

The Seahawks closed as a 1.5-point road favorite, and easily covered, beating Philadelphia 17-9. Seattle is now 6-0, and 5-1 against the spread this season on the road.

Detroit Helps Sportsbooks After Seattle Sting

Bettors were also high on Detroit, but they didn’t have the same luck they had with Seattle. The Lions were four-point picks on the road at Washington.

Caesars sportsbooks reported that Detroit was their biggest liability, with Seattle second. The facilities had 87 percent of the tickets written on the Lions, along with 80 percent of the money.

At William Hill, the matchup generated the biggest percentage of tickets written for any game at 87 percent. The money, however, was only 62 percent on the Lions.

The Lions were beaten straight up by the Redskins. It was the team’s second victory, and the first for rookie quarterback, Dwayne Haskins.

Tampa Bay Winning Over Bettors

Tampa Bay is on a crazy win streak with the over. The Buccaneers have hit the over in nine consecutive games. The over/under for their road contest against Atlanta was 51.5, the highest total of Week 12.

It didn’t matter. The Bucs and Falcons easily went over, with Tampa Bay winning, 35-22.

The Bucs also made some backers happy with the upset, but it was a minority of gamblers that backed Tampa Bay. The money came flying in before kickoff on Atlanta. At Points Bet USA, they said about 90 percent of the money was on the Falcons, and the line got pushed down from four to 3.5 points.

Raiders Jet Lag Effect

Since 2003, Oakland is 6-27 straight up, and 12-21 against the spread when playing on the East Coast after playing their previous game on the West Coast.

The team certainly looked jet lagged when they played the New York Jets on Sunday at the Meadowlands. Oakland, who was favored by 3.5-points, hurt its playoff chances with a 34-3 loss to the Jets.

Stat of the Week

This is the first time in franchise history that the New York Jets have had a lead of at least 30 points in consecutive games. They led the Redskins by that amount last week. In the last three weeks, the Jets have won by exactly 34 points over their opponents.
