The New York Jets (3-7) boasted the worst offense in the NFL coming into Week 11, but then Sam Darnold tossed four touchdowns, and the Jets scored a season-high 34 points in a 34-17 victory over the Washington Redskins (1-9). Jets DB, Jamal Adams posted another monster performance with three sacks, which tied an NFL record for most sacks from a defensive back in a game.

The Jets also rushed for more than 100 yards as a team for the first time this season in the rout over the Redskins.

With the victory, the Jets won two games in a row after starting the season 1-7.

Washington lost another home game and dropped to 0-5 at FedEx Field. In the second half of the game, the few remaining fans still in the stadium were boisterously chanting “Sell the team! Sell the team!” Fans directed the chant to team owner Dan Snyder, who is considered the worst owner in the NFL, and one of the worst team owners in major American sports.

4 TDs from Darnold

Darnold completed 19-for-30 passes for 293 yards. He threw four touchdown strikes, and just one interception.

Darnold connected with TE Ryan Griffin on five receptions. Griffin posted 109 yards and scored a touchdown. WR Jamison Crowder caught five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.

“For us as an offense as a whole, it’s just another stepping stone in the right direction,” said Darnold. “Once our offense is in a really good rhythm, it’s easy for me and a lot of the other guys on the offense to go and make plays.”

“When he was sick, it was tough,” said Griffin, referring to Darnold’s bout with mononucleosis. “It’s coming around now, and we’re getting it down at the right time.”

Daniel Brown and Robby Anderson also caught touchdown passes from Darnold, who spread the ball around to seven targets.

The four touchdowns marked a career-high for Darnold. It’s safe to say that he’s no longer seeing ghosts after being humiliated by a Monday Night Football hot mic from ESPN’s production crew.

100+ Yards

The Jets combined for 115 rushing yards and passed the century mark for the first time all season. The offense is finally coming together on both the ground and in the air.

Le’veon Bell only rushed 18 times for 59 yards, but he found the end zone. Bell added 33 receiving yards.

Bilal Powell, long-time backup for Gang Green, posted a strong performance with seven carries for 42 yards.

Bell passed for over 100-plus combined yards only twice this season. His season high on the ground included 70 rushing yards in a 33-0 blowout loss to the New England Patriots. Bell has only three rushing scores all season, and four total touchdowns this season.

Jamal Adams MVP?

Last week, Jamal Adams dazzled everyone with his strip-touchdown against rookie Daniel Jones and the NY Giants in the Toilet Bowl. This week, Adams posted three sacks, which is rare for a defensive back.

Adams became only the second DB in NFL history to record three sacks in a single game. Mike Hilton first achieved that feat with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2017.

“Honestly, the picks are not coming my way, so I thought I’d do something different,” Adams said.

The Jets defense confused and harassed Redskins rookie QB, Dwyane Haskins all game.

Haskins went 19-for-35 passes for 214 yards. He tossed two touchdowns and an interception.

“It wasn’t good enough to win,” Haskins said. “Life is hard. You’ve got work harder.”

The Jets recorded six sacks against the Redskins. Haskins went down six times, including three sacks from Adams. The Jets defense now have 16 sacks in the last three games.

On Deck: Raiders, Bengals, Dolphins

The Jets host the Oakland Raiders in Week 12, but they have two easy games with the Bengals and Dolphins in back-to-back weeks.

The Raiders opened as a 3.5-point favorite, which means the Jets will be a home dog once again at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets head to Cincinnati in Week 13 to face the winless Bengals. The Jets host the Fish in Week 14 in a revenge game after the Dolphins embarrassed the Jets and their ex-head coach in Week 9.

Ownership also gave head coach Adam Gase a vote of confidence through 2020. Fans wanted Gase fired after the loss against the Fish, but the Johnson Family insisted they were being patient with Gase and the Jets. That means the Jets are stuck with Gase for another 22 games.
