This week’s Bermuda Championship, at the 6,828-yard, par-71 Port Royal Golf Club in Southampton, Bermuda, will feature 130 golfers, with the top 65 and ties making the cut. Brendon Todd won last year, but hasn’t exactly been smoking the tour lately.
The Masters looms, so most of the world’s best will set out this week – and next. Consider these five golfers for your DFS rosters.
Will Zalatoris ($10,900 on DK, $11,800 on FD)
We are likely seeing the emergence of the PGA Tour’s next star in Zalatoris, who continued the hot start to his career by finishing fifth, sixth, and eighth (with a missed cut at Sanderson Farms sandwiched in) to open the 2020-21 season. He’s made the top 20 in 16 of his past 18 starts overall. Oddsmakers peg him as the favorite in this field for good reason.
Denny McCarthy ($9,500 on DraftKings, $11,200 on FanDuel)
McCarthy proved consistent this year, making nine of his past 10 cuts – mostly in fields stronger than this one. He hasn’t just scraped by either, as McCarthy finished ninth at the Wyndham Championship and sixth at the Sanderson Farms Championship. You can expect to get McCarthy at lower ownership than comparable players in salary this week.
Patrick Rodgers ($7,900 on DK, $9,500 on FD)
I’ll chalk up two missed cuts in his two past events to poor putting. Otherwise, Rodgers performed solidly late in 2020, with four finishes inside the top 31 in his past nine events, including an 11th at the Corales Puntacanta Resort & Club Championship. We can roster him at a depressed salary at the Bermuda Championship thanks to his recent underperformances.
Wesley Bryan ($7,800 on DK, $9,600 on FD)
After returning from injury, Bryan made five of six cuts this year, and most recently carded a 12th at Sanderson Farms. Of the six events he’s played, he finished inside the top 31 four times. He enjoys an incredibly cheap salary for his potential against a weaker field.
Michael Gilgic ($6,500 on DK, $8,300 on FD)
In the lower range, you could do a lot worse than this Canadian. Gilgic has made six of his past seven cuts, including a 27th at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in his last start. He may have top-10 potential at the Bermuda Championship against this weaker field (his best recent finish a 14th in the Safeway Open against a stronger field), a nice bonus for this cheap salary.
