The role of LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers sidekick has yet to be filled and King James loves the possibility that Anthony Davis, the No. 1 overall pick from the 2012 NBA Draft, could play alongside him in the future.

For the New Orleans Pelicans this season, Davis averages 28 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. For advanced stats nerds, Davis’ 29.80 PER is the best in the league.

All-Star Unibrow

Davis played a one-and-done season with Kentucky and won the NCAA Championship in 2012. The New Orleans Hornets drafted him with the #1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

WHO IS ANTHONY DAVIS?
Height: 6-foot-10
Wingspan: 7-foot-6
Age: 25
Hometown: Chicago, IL
College: Kentucky
Drafted: #1 overall pick in 2012
Teams: New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans

During his rookie season, Davis averaged 13.5 points per game, but he missed almost a quarter of the season due to a knee injury. Since then, Davis has been a perennial All-Star with five straight appearances in the All-Star Game.

Batman and Robin

Magic Johnson and GM Rob Pelinka’s first stage of rebuilding the Lakers was signing LeBron James. The next step will be to add a marquee name to the lineup. When asked about the possibility of Davis joining the Lakers in the future, LeBron could not have voiced his approval fast enough.

“Davis would be amazing,” said LeBron James. “That would be amazing, like, duh. That would be incredible.”

The two were teammates during the 2012 Olympics and both won a gold medal. The two also share the same agent. Davis recently switched agents and is currently represented by Rich Paul from Klutch.

Davis is under contract through the end of next season. He has an option for the 2020-21 season worth $28.8 million. If the Pelicans think Davis will opt out, they will trade him.

Bright Lights, Bright City

Will Kevin Durant be dropping dimes in New York City next season? That’s the big question on everybody’s mind.

The Golden State Warriors got off to a shaky start this season that included a blow up between Draymond Green and KD. The Warriors have corrected the ship and they are still the big favorite to three-peat as NBA champions. However, the writing is on the wall. This will be KD’s final season in the Bay Area.

But will he head south to Los Angeles to play with LeBron? Or is he headed to Madison Square Garden to restore the Knicks to their old glory days?

The Knicks are desperately in need of a supreme player and Durant fits the bill. Durant’s agent, Rich Kleiman, is also good friends with Knicks coach David Fizdale. Plus, according to the NYC tabloids, the Knicks are up for sale for $5 billion, even though owner James Dolan denies the rumor.

Casting Call

Everyone expected Paul George would sign with the Lakers, but he surprised everyone in the offseason when he decided to stay in Oklahoma City to play with Russell Westbrook and the Thunder. Besides Durant and Davis, who else could be headed to Hollywood to help LeBron bring another title home to Los Angeles?

POTENTIAL LEBRON SIDEKICKS:

  • Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
  • Kawhi Leonard (Toronto Raptors)
  • Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
  • Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors)
  • Jamal Crawford (Phoenix Suns)
  • Kristaps Porzingis (New York Knicks)
  • Carmelo Anthony (Houston Rockets)

Melo in LA? It could be a possibility. Carmelo Anthony and LeBron are tight. However, even though Melo is best friends with Chris Paul and James Harden, his short stint in Houston with the Rockets proved to be a disastrous one.

According to the South Point Casino and Sports Book in Las Vegas, the Lakers are 12-1 odds to win the NBA championship. The Pelicans are 100-1.
