The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas updated their Super Bowl 54 odds, and the New England Patriots (9-1) are the top favorite on the board at 14/5 odds to win the NFL championship. The New Orleans Saints (8-2) are 4/1 odds to win Super Bowl 54, and the Baltimore Ravens (8-2) improved to 9/2 odds.
Based on the Westgate’s odds, the consensus championship matchup looks like Tom Brady and the Patriots battling Drew Brees and the Saints in Super Bowl 54.
The Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) were among the preseason favorites with the Patriots. The Chiefs got off to a slow start with a banged-up offensive line, and a less-than-healthy Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs are the third-best AFC team on the future board, behind the Ravens and the Patriots.
The Ravens picked off a previously undefeated Patriots squad in Week 8, and saw their Super Bowl odds increase considerably from 16/1 to 9/1. Their odds jumped once again, now sitting at 9/2 overall as the third best-team on the board behind the Pats and Saints.

Last year’s NFC champions, the Los Angeles Rams, saw their Super Bowl chances plummet to 50/1. The Rams (6-4) are currently in third place in the NFC West behind the San Francisco 49ers (9-1) and Seattle Seahawks (16/1). The Rams are on the playoff bubble, and need help if they want a shot at a wild card.
Back-to-Back for Brady and Belichick?
If the Patriots can win Super Bowl 54, they’d pull off consecutive titles and three Super Bowls in the last four years.
The Pats boast one of the toughest defenses in over a decade or more, allowing only 10.8 points per game from the #1 weighted defense, according to DVOA advanced metrics.
The Pats’ pass D is probably better than that of any of their previous Super Bowl championship teams. The stingy Pats allow just 152.6 passing yards per game, which is ranked #2 in the NFL behind the Niners.
The Pats’ run D is ranked #10, allowing 97.3 yards per game on the ground. Belichick has an old-school approach to defense that begins and ends with a simple philosophy: stop the run game.
The defense is keeping them in games, which has been necessary because the offense has looked ugly at times. Have you ever seen Tom Brady look so emo than he did at last week’s press conference after a 17-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles? The Pats won the game, and Brady looked like his dog died. He threw zero touchdowns compared to one touchdown pass on a trick play from WR Julian Edelman (who played QB in college at Kent State).
Who Dat in the Super Bowl?
The New Orleans Saints were one bad beat away from a Brady/Brees matchup in Super Bowl 53. The zebras blew a pass interference call on the Rams, and the rest is history. The Patriots went on to defeat the Rams to secure a sixth title for Brady and Belichick.
The Saints figured out how to win games without Drew Brees. Backup QB, Teddy Bridgewater went 5-0 as a starter when Brees was recovering from thumb surgery. Now that Brees is back, the Saints resumed their primary goal: win the Super Bowl.
At 4/1 odds, the Saints are the top team on the board in the NFC. Oddsmakers have more confidence in the Saints than they do the Niners, mostly due to an easier schedule.
The next three games could spell doom for Jimmy G and the Niners, with a home game against the Green Bay Packers, and back-to-back road games against the Ravens and Saints. They also end the season with two divisional games against the Rams and Seahawks. The Week 17 matchup between the Niners and Seahawks in Seattle could decide the NFC West.
