With the second half of the NFL season upon us, Tom Brady and Josh Allen are currently co-favorites to win the MVP at +350 odds, according to a recent update by DraftKings. Brady leads the NFL with 25 passing touchdowns at the ripe age of 44-years old, and he’s seeking a fourth MVP award while Allen is pursuing his first.

Allen took over the top spot as the consensus favorite a couple of weeks ago. But, after two losses for the Buffalo Bills in the past three weeks, including an upset loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, Allen now shares the lead with Brady.

NFL MVP Odds
  • Josh Allen +350
  • Tom Brady +350
  • Kyler Murray +750
  • Matthew Stafford +800
  • Lamar Jackson +1000
  • Aaron Rodgers +1200
  • Dak Prescott +1200
  • Justin Herbert +1400
  • Ryan Tannehill +3500
  • Derek Carr +5000
  • Patrick Mahomes +6500
  • Joe Burrow +6500
  • Cooper Kupp +8000

Cooper Kupp, who is having a sensational season with the Los Angeles Rams, is the highest non-quarterback on the MVP betting board at +8000 odds. Once Derrick Henry went down with a season-ending ACL injury, Kupp took over his spot as the highest-rated non-QB.

Allen or Brady +350

After the first month of the season, Kyler Murray led the Arizona Cardinals to a 4-0 record took over as the favorite at +450 odds ahead of Patrick Mahomes. In early October, Allen was +700 odds and Brady was +1400 odds to win MVP. In the preseason, Brady was +1400 odds while Allen was slightly better at +1200.

Allen took over as the sole favorite in Week 5 when he surged ahead of Murray at +450 odds. He’d been the consensus favorite before Brady joined him on the top shelf after the Bills suffered a pair of three-point losses at the hands of the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bills slipped to 5-3 while the Bucs are 6-2 heading into the second half of the season.

Brady leads the NFL with 25 passing touchdowns and he’s ranked #2 with 2,650 passing yards. He’s coughed up only five interceptions in Bruce Arians’ pass-happy offense. Brady has a QBR of 68.9, which is also ranked #2 in the NFL.

Valuetown: Murray, Rodgers, Jackson

At the start of the season, Mahomes was the consensus favorite to win MVP at +500 odds. Aaron Rodgers was the second preseason MVP favorite at +1000 odds. Since then, the Kansas Chiefs have looked hopelessly mediocre with a 5-4 record and Mahomes has struggled at times while playing the worst football of his short career.

Rodgers and the Packers were looking great until he tested positive for COVID-19 and word got out that he mislead fans and the media about his vaccination status. The Packers (7-2) lost last week’s game without Rodgers, but still have the second-best record in the NFC. You can still back Rodgers at +1200 odds to win MVP.

Murray slipped to +750 odds after a sore ankle slowed him down in the last two games. He’s still offering tremendous value with a favorable second-half schedule for the Arizona Cardinals who boast the best record in the NFL at 8-1.

The Baltimore Ravens (6-2) have quietly taken over as the second-best team in the AFC. Lamar Jackson is only +1000 to win the MVP, but you have a feeling he’ll be overlooked when it comes to the highly-publicized two-way race between Allen and Brady. Don’t count Murray out either.
