The LOL Jets strike again, this time on Monday Night Football! The New England Patriots rallied from being down 10 points in the fourth quarter to tie the New York Jets, and then beat them 30-27 on a game-winning field goal as time expired. The LOL Jets sunk to 0-9 and remain the only winless team in the NFL.

The Jets faced a lose-lose proposition during their Monday Night Football game against the Patriots because, if they lost on national television, then the entire country would mock them (more than usual). However, if the Jets defeated their hated-rivals, they would then put the quest for the #1 pick in jeopardy.

Trevor Lawrence is a can’t miss quarterback prospect, but the Jets almost missed a shot at securing him when they nearly picked off the Pats as +7 home dogs at Met Life Stadium. If the Jets have anyone to thank, it’s their former kicker Nick Folk, who nailed two field goals in the fourth quarter, including the 51-yard game winner.

“It hurts,” said Jets head coach Adam Gase.

The LOL Jets continued their losing ways to slip to 0-9, but they beat the spread for only the second time this season. Meanwhile, the Patriots sunk to 2-6. It’s shocking to think any team coached by Bill Belichick would have six losses through the midpoint of the season.

Cam Comeback, Folk Death Blow

The Patriots dominated the Jets in the fourth quarter after trailing 27-17 at the end of the third. They were down seven points at the two-minute warning, but managed to score a touchdown on a Cam Newton rush to tie the game with 1:57 remaining.

The Jets ran only four plays and gained just three yards of offense in the fourth quarter. After Newton spearheaded a 17-play drive that ate up nearly six minutes of clock and resulted in a field goal to trim the Pats’ deficit to seven points, Joe Flacco threw an interception on the Jets first play in the fourth quarter. Newton then led the Pats on an 11-play, 72-yard touchdown drive to tie the game.

The Patriots defense stuffed the Jets, who were forced to punt after an atrocious three-and-out. In less than 47 seconds, Newton marched the Patriots downfield and into field goal range. Folk finished off his old team with the game-winning field goal as time expired.

The janky field at MetLife Stadium didn’t claim any victims or cause serious injury on MNF, but Newton slipped numerous times, which aided the Jets defense.

The Jets offense got shut out in the second half in three-straight games. They managed to score a touchdown in the third quarter, but were blanked in the fourth quarter for the fourth game in a row.

Gase Hot Seat, Fade the Jets

If there’s one last chance that the Jets fire head coach Adam Gase, it will happen in the next 48 hours. However, all signs indicate that the Jets will stick with him through the end of the season. With the incompetent Gase at the helm, the Jets are a walking dumpster fire who are likely to lose more games than the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7) through the rest of the season.

The LOL Jets beat the spread for only the second time this season, but they’re still 7-2 ATS on the season, maintaining their status as the worst team against the spread in the NFL.

FADE THE LOL JETS
  • Week 9: New England Patriots 30, NY Jets 27
  • Point Spread: NE -9
  • Jets Record: 0-9 SU, 2-7 ATS
  • Fade the Jets Record: 7-2

The good news for Gang Green is that they won’t lose in Week 10. It’s their bye week, so fans get a week off to watch real football teams.

In Week 11, the LOL Jets fly out to Hollywood to battle the Los Angeles Chargers (2-6) and their rookie QB, Justin Herbert. We’ll continue to fade the LOL Jets so long as Gase is the head coach, or until they can lock up the #1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
