The game was initially set for Nov. 27, but postponed due to OU’s issues with the virus. The teams will not meet this season.

OU (6-2) is still set to face No. 11 Iowa State (8-1) at the Big 12 Championship Game on Dec. 19 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

In other Big 12 football news, Texas (5-3) at Kansas (0-8) on Saturday is also called off due to Texas’ COVID-19 shutdown. Both teams’ seasons are likely over unless Texas elects to accept a bowl bid.

BC Players Decide to Shut Season Down in Spite of Bowl Eligibility

Boston College (6-5) on Thursday became the first bowl-eligible college football program to announce their season has ended. Players elected not to participate in the postseason, even after posting a winning record under first-year coach Jeff Hafley.

“The [players are] worn out,” Hafley said during a Zoom call Thursday. “As we look now with other teams continuing to battle COVID, it’s getting worse, and for us to go through three weeks of practice, continue to stay healthy, continue to stay away from our families, and then not know is the bowl game really going to happen? Are we going to miss Christmas with our families and then be told on the 25th that we’re really not going to play?”

The Eagles were among the handful of teams in college football to successfully adhere to mask-wearing and social-distancing standards, and play a full season.

Since June, the program had only a single positive COVID-19 test and was one of three ACC teams to complete its regular-season schedule.
