The LOLJets were at it once again after linebacker CJ Mosley went down with a groin injury and the Buffalo Bills rallied back to overcome a 16-point deficit to defeat the New York Jets 17-16.

The Jets got bit in the face when they decided to save a few pennies by letting All-Pro kicker Jason Meyers sign with the Seattle Seahawks. Instead, an inexpensive kicker from Norway (Kaare Vedvik) they claimed off waivers, missed an extra point and FG. The Jets blew a 16-point lead and suffered a brutal loss in the opening game of the season by a single point.

In his first post-game presser, new head coach Adam Gase threw everyone under the bus except QB Sam Darnold and himself.

Different year, same LOLJets.

Welcome Bell

The New York Jets jumped out to a 16-0 lead over the Buffalo Bills, who looked lost in the first half particularly second-year QB Josh Allen. Five minutes into the game, CJ Mosley picked off Josh Allen and ran it back 17-yards for a pick 6. The Jets new kicker Kaare Vedvik, freshly acquired off waivers, missed the XP, but the Jets were ahead 6-0.

The Gang Green defense stepped up once again in the second quarter. Jordan Jenkins tackled RB Frank Gore in the end zone for a safety. The Jets were ahead 8-0.

Later in the second quarter, Le’Veon Bell added a red zone touchdown after a 9-yard pass from Sam Darnold. It marked Bell’s first touchdown with the Jets. Bell finished his first game with the Jets with 92 total yards and a score. He rushed for 60 yards on 17 carries and added 6 receptions for 32 yards and a score.

Down Goes Mosley, Kiss Lead Goodbye

The Jets got guff when they signed middle linebacker CJ Mosley to a lucrative deal in free agency. However in Week 1, Mosley looked like a one-man wrecking crew. He was all over the place and even scored the first touchdown of the season for the Jets on a pick 6.

Once Mosley injured his groin, Allen looked like a different QB. Allen rallied the Bills down 16-0 to win by a single point.

Josh Allen (BUF) 24/37, 254 Yards, 1 TD, 2 INT

Sam Darnold (NYJ) 28/41, 175 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

The LOLJets opted to let Jason Meyers walk even though he connected on 33 out of 36 field goals last season. They cut veteran kicker Chandler Catanzaro when he played horribly in the preseason. The Jets scrambled and added someone the Minnesota Vikings cut.

Kaare Vedvik had limited experience in the NFL, but the Jets took a flier on him for the opening game of the season. The kicking woes were not the exact problem the Jets lost the game, but not having a reliable kicker did not help matters.

LOLJets fans are clogging up sports talk radio phone lines to bitch and moan about how the Jets management made a huge mistake by failing to re-sign Jason Meyers instead of letting an unknown Norwegian cost them a division game.

In case you were wondering, Meyers did not attempt any field goals in Week 1 for the Seahawks in their 21-20 victory over the Cincy Bengals. However, Meyers connected on all three XP attempts.

In Week 2, the Jets (0-1) face the Cleveland Browns (0-1) on Monday Night football. The Browns are a 2.5-point favorite.
