Robert Lewandowski would welcome a move away from Bayern Munich, but he isn’t forcing the German champions into any talks. Lewandowski’s price stands at $137 million.

The Polish super striker would like to play for another top European club before he turns 35, according to Sky Sports.

Lewandowski is now 33 and scoring at a non-stop rate for Bayern. He’s been a target for Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea in past years, but the Bavarian giants didn’t encourage any sort of negotiation for their prized asset.

Lewandowski was given the player of the year award by both FIFA and UEFA in 2020. He was the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or too, but the trophy wasn’t awarded last year because of the COVID pandemic. Lewy still has two years left in his contract at Bayern, and the club’s bosses haven’t approached him about a contract extension.

Last season, Lewandowski beat Gerd Muller’s record of most goals in a Bundesliga season, netting 41 times. Muller’s record lasted for 49 years.

Lewandowski, the supreme goal-scorer

Lewandowski’s 41 goals in 2020-2021 are a landmark for the top European Leagues. Messi came second in the overall ranking with 30 goals in Barcelona’s shirt, with Ronaldo behind at 29 for Juventus. In total, Lewandowski scored 56 goals for Bayern and Poland last season. He started the current campaign in style, with three goals in two official games.

“The Poland striker is understood to be frustrated by Bayern’s reluctance to sell, but is unlikely to do anything that will harm his good relationship with the club,” Sky’s sources note.

This summer, Chelsea tried to tempt Lewandowski away from Allianz Arena before finally signing Romelu Lukaku for $135 million instead. Lewandowski joined Bayern in 2014 from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund as a free agent. Lewy played 187 games during his four years in Dortmund, netting 103 times. At Bayern, he has 297 goals in 331 outings.

Before coming to Germany in 2010, Lewandowski scored goals in his native country for Lech Poznan.

The bookies see Manchester City as the favorites to land Lewandowski at +200. Pep Guardiola has known him very well since the time they worked together at Bayern and once said the Polish striker ‘is the most professional player” he’s ever worked with. Real Madrid comes second at +1100, with Manchester United and PSG at +1500.
