The 25-year-old scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 57 appearances for Inter in 2020 and 2021. He was included in Miami’s starting line-up in all 34 regular season matches last season, scoring twice and assisting four times. Morgan alternated between playing as a winger and as a wing-back, and was the team’s highest performer.

Morgan was on a $550K salary in Miami. He had only penned a new contract in March. The club is now looking to offload designated players Blaise Matuidi and Rodolfo Pizarro.

Morgan joined Inter from Scottish giants Celtic Glasgow. Before moving to Miami on a definitive transfer, he also played for St. Mirren and Sunderland. In the Celtic Glasgow shirt, he featured on 31 occasions, scoring twice. Morgan has played two games for the Scotland national team.

The $1.2 million Miami will get in allocation money is one of the biggest amounts ever traded by an MLS club. It’s even more important for Miami considering the club received heavy sanctions earlier this year as part of the punishment for violating the league’s roster rules. They were fined a total of $2,271,250 in allocation money in 2022 and 2023 combined.
