Rumors suggest that Fortnite will be getting a new map or a map overhaul with the introduction of Season 11. The Season X Live Event will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2019, which marks the official conclusion of Season 10, and the start for Season 11.
Fortnite Season 10 is winding down in approximately one week, after a week-long extension. A new update is forthcoming, and insiders predict the newest update will be the battle royale game’s biggest yet.
A prominent theory includes the frozen comet that will finally come crashing down into the island. If so, a new map or modification map will be required for Season 11.
Four weeks ago, data miner @Lucas7yoshi discovered the names of potential new locations via new location/POI tags.

Wailing Woods is an existing location. Some fans think that developers at Epic Games are tweaking the existing map, and renaming locations like Weeping Woods.
Rumors also suggest this final week of Season 10 might be the last time Fortnite players enter the game by jumping out of the Battle Bus.
Another fan and data miner, @ShiinaBR, stumbled upon a screen-cap of players waving goodbye to the Battle Bus. Is this a tip off that a new format is coming with spawn points instead of players jumping out of the Battle Bus?
This is one of the many questions and rumors that users are trying to figure out as Fortnite Season 10 comes to an end.
Fortnite Season 11: New Map?
Fortnite hasn’t released a new map since its inception two years ago by Epic Games. Despite utilizing the same map, players became enraptured with Fortnite, and even professional athletes got hooked.
Epic Games tweaked the original map and slightly altered locations during different updates over 10 seasons. However, a completely new map has never been introduced, unlike their competitor, PlayerUknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) from Tencent Games.
When Fortnite became a huge hit on the mobile platform, PUBG decided to release new maps in order to retain their player base, who got bored with the initial map called Erangel. Since their initial launch, PUBG released three additional maps (featuring desert, jungle, and snow themes), with another map inspired by Venice, Italy rumored to be on the way. PUBG players can pick and choose which maps to play, or let the game randomly pick one for them.
Esports pros competing in PUBG tournaments often play different matches on different maps to throw a little variety into each tournament. It’s sort of like a mixed games format in poker, versus the ordinary Texas Hold’em. Meanwhile, despite its huge popularity, Fortnite had to stick with the same old map for the Fortnite World Cup this summer.
Here Come the Bots
AI bots are coming to Season 11. This isn’t one of those wild rumors either, because Fortnite execs confirmed it. Bots will be used to fill up matches with newer players.
“We’re introducing improved matchmaking logic to Battle Royale core modes to create fairer matches,” explained developers at Epic Games. “They will behave similarly to normal players, and will help provide a better path for players to grow in skill. Bots will work in conjunction with the new matchmaking system, and as your skill improves, you’ll face fewer bots.”
Fortnite tweaked their “matchmaking logic” to assist new players, and provide them with a better experience. The match logic hasn’t always worked in the past, which is why Ninja is not a fan.
“Skill-based matchmaking hasn’t that like… never worked?” wondered Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins. “Or am I wrong? Good players don’t want to always play against good players.”
Fortnite can be quite frustrating to learn when you’re matched with high-quality players. Then again, you can only become the best if you compete against the best.
According to ShiinaBR, developers are also working on a players vs. all bots format.
