Cristiano Ronaldo just joined Manchester United from Juventus and signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford. His mother doesn’t see Ronaldo ending his career in the Man. United shirt, though.

Dolores Aveiro wants to see Ronaldo wearing Sporting’s colors before he retires. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner first played for Sporting between 1997 and 2003, when he departed for his first stint at Manchester United. His career took off rapidly, with Ronaldo wearing the shirts of Man. United, Real Madrid, and Juventus through the years, and developing into one of the most prominent players in the history of the game.

During an interview with Sporting’s podcast series ADN de Leao, Dolores Aveiro opened up about the family’s affection for Portugal’s acting champions. Ronaldo’s mother said she tried to talk her son into returning to Sporting.

“Ronaldo has to come back here. If it was up to me, he’d be here already,” Aveiro said during the show. “He enjoys watching Sporting’s games. I told him, ‘Before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting,'” Ronaldo’s mother revealed. Ronaldo’s answer kept her hopes alive. “He told me we must wait and see what the future brings,” Aveiro said.

If her son doesn’t play at Sporting again, she wants her grandson to continue the family tradition.

“Cristiano Junior is a better player than his dad was at his age. Seeing them together at Sporting would be my dream,” Aveiro argued.

Aveiro was also asked about the possibility of her son joining Manchester City this summer, before a deal to take him from Juventus to arch-rivals Manchester Untied was agreed upon. City was never in pole-position, Ronaldo’s mum assures.

“He told me, ‘Mum, don’t worry about what they’re saying. I’m only going to Manchester United,'” Aveiro recalls.

Ronaldo had the perfect start to his new life at Old Trafford, scoring four goals in his first three games for Manchester United. Ronaldo and United went through a shock at the weekend, though, after losing at home in the Premier League to Aston Villa (0-1).

“This is only the beginning, but in a competition as strong as the Premier League, every point counts! We must react, get back on our feet and show our true strength,” Ronaldo posted on Instagram after the match.

Manchester United is fourth in the Premier League after six rounds. The Red Devils have 13 points, just one behind current leaders Liverpool.
