Super Bowl 56 Futures: Denver Broncos Spike on Aaron Rodgers Rumor, Green Bay Packers Sink

With the 2021 NFL Draft complete, the Kansas City Chiefs are still the consensus favorites to win Super Bowl 56 at +525 odds, according to an update by DraftKings. Due to the rumors about Aaron Rodgers wanting to leave Green Bay via a trade, the Packers saw their odds dip, while the Denver Broncos saw their Super Bowl 56 odds vastly improve.

On the morning of the first day of the NFL Draft, word broke that Rodgers wants the Packers to trade him to the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, or Las Vegas Raiders. The Broncos saw the biggest jump in their odds, and are now +2500 odds, compared to +6000 odds back in February. The Packers saw their odds drop from +1000 to +2000 after the impending break-up between Rodgers and the Packers went viral.

The San Francisco 49ers made a bold move and traded up in the draft by shipping a couple of future first-round draft picks to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the third overall pick. Leading up to the draft, several insiders reported that the 49ers were interested in quarterbacks Mac Jones (Alabama) or Trey Lance (North Dakota State). On draft day, the 49ers selected Lance, who apparently will back up Jimmy G unless the 49ers trade their starting quarterback before Week 1.

Right now, you can back the 49ers at +1400 odds to win Super Bowl 56.

Rams, Browns, Patriots Bump

After the LA Rams secured Matthew Stafford in a major trade with the Detroit Lions, the Rams saw their odds move from +1600 to +1300 to win Super Bowl 56.

The Cleveland Browns had a strong draft and bolstered their defense. Baker Mayfield and the Browns saw their Super Bowl 56 odds move from +3000 to +1600.

When word got out that Russell Wilson is unhappy with the Seattle Seahawks, their odds to win Super Bowl 56 slipped from +2000 to +2500.

Indianapolis Colts +2800 +3000

New England Patriots +2800 +6000

In the first major update after Tom Brady and the Bucs won Super Bowl 55, the New England Patriots were +6000 odds to win Super Bowl 56. You can currently back Bill Belichick and the evil empire at +2800 odds. Belichick secured the next so-called franchise quarterback by drafting Mac Jones with the #15 pick. The Pats didn’t have to pull off any crazy trades to make it happen because Jones saw his inflated stock crash on draft day. Jones, initially rumored to go as high as third, slipped to the middle of the first round. For now, Jones will be Cam Newton’s backup.

The Long Shots and Dreamers

The LA Chargers (+3300), Tennessee Titans (+3300), Arizona Cardinals (+4000), and Pittsburgh Steelers (+4000) offer up the most value among the rest of the long shots at dreamers in the league.

The Houston Texans are a disaster with two big scandals brewing. The team says they won’t trade their unhappy quarterback Deshaun Watson. The rest of the league believed them and went ahead with their own draft plans. It looks like Watson will have to sit out this season if he expects the Texans to budge off their hard-liner stance. In the meantime, Watson has a touchy litigation nightmare looming with numerous masseuses suing him for sexual misconduct.

Despite landing Trevor Lawrence with the first-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars are still a moon shot at +8000 odds to win the Super Bowl.

The New York Jets are still huge underdogs to win the Super Bowl even though they hired a popular new head coach with Robert Saleh. The Jets picked up BYU’s Zach Wilson with the second-overall pick in the draft, but that didn’t move the needle on the futures board. Hey, the New York Knicks turned around their franchise with an amazing run this season. Perhaps the LOL Jets will finally take a step in the right direction.
