2014/2015 Indiana Pacers Schedule

The two-time defending Central Division Champion and Eastern Conference Finalist Indiana Pacers will open the 2014-15 with two home games against Philadelphia and Memphis. The home schedule is highlighted by two games against division rival Cleveland, both in February, another division rival Chicago, Miami, the Pacers' Eastern Conference Finals opponent the last two years, and the defending world champion San Antonio Spurs. Ticket sales for the Pacers have have gone through some tumultuous times. But when the team is successful, their popularity rises.

Indiana Pacers History

The Indiana Pacers were established in 1967 and joined the NBA in 1976 after the NBA-ABA merger. The Pacers were one of the strongest franchises in the ABA but financial issues heavily affected the franchise in its early years in the NBA and have never truly reached the heights of their ABA success. The most successful period for the Pacers was in the late 1980s and 1990s when the franchise was led by Reggie Miller. In this period the Pacers were regular playoff qualifiers and reached the NBA finals in 2000. The Pacers struggled in the aftermath of Miller's retirement and the side suffered a run of losing seasons in the late 2000s. The Pacers roster has improved in recent seasons and they are now legitimate playoff contenders in the tough Eastern Conference.

Indiana Pacers Star Player: Paul George

Paul George played two seasons of college basketball at Fresno State before declaring for tge NBA Draft. The Pacers drafted him as the 10th overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. In 2013, he was selected to play in his first NBA All-Star Game, received the NBA Most Improved Player Award, and was named to All-NBA Third Team and All-Defensive Second Team. On November 21, 2012, George made nine three-pointers en route to a career-high 37 points in a victory against the New Orleans Hornets. The nine 3-pointers broke the franchise record for most 3-pointers made in a single game, surpassing Hall of Famer Reggie Miller.

Indiana Pacers Star From the Past: Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller was selected with the 11th overall pick of the 1987 NBA draft. Miller was one of the star NBA players during the 1990s and is considered the greatest three-throw shooter in the history of the league. Miller regularly led the Pacers to the NBA playoffs but generally had difficulty overcoming Michael Jordan and the incredible Chicago Bulls roster from the 1990s. Miller led the Pacers to their first NBA finals in 2000 but lost in six tough games to the Los Angeles Lakers. Miller was an NBA All-Star on five occasions and until recently held the record for the most career three-pointers. Miller is still the Indiana Pacers leader in points, assists, steals and three-pointers.

Indiana Pacers Head Coach: Frank Vogel

Frank Vogel was named head coach of the Indiana Pacers in 2010 after spending a number of years as an assistant at the franchise. Vogel started his NBA coaching career as interim head coach of the Pacers and was able to lead the roster to the playoffs for the first time in six years. Vogel is considered one of the best up and coming coaches in the NBA and the Pacers have improved in each season with him as head coach. In January 2014, Vogel was named the Eastern Conference head coach for 2014 NBA All-Star Game. Vogel has proven he has the ability and popularity to be a successful long-term head coach of the Indiana Pacers roster.
