Ukrainian Deprived Hero Tymoshchuk Accused of Being a Russian Spy

Just days after Anatoliy Tymoshchuk was tagged as a ‘traitor’ — erased from the Ukrainian Football Federation’s records and deprived of all the honors and trophies he won at club and national team levels in Ukraine — his former agent Vitaliy Yurchenko made shocking statements regarding the ex-midfielder.

According to papers published on Facebook by Yurchenko, Tymoshchuk agreed to cooperate with the Russian Security Service (FSB) in the past. No official institution validated the authenticity of the papers and there was no reaction from Tymoshchuk’s camp referring to the subject.

As stated in one of the documents, Tymushchuk had allegedly agreed to “establish a mutually beneficial and longterm cooperation” with the FSB, also expressing his readiness “to comply with the constitution and laws of the Russian Federation.”

Did Tymoshchuk agree to become a spy?

Among the documents posted on the agent’s social page, there’s also a signed paper that reads: “I, Tymoshchuk Anatoly, having entered the service of the internal affairs bodies, swear allegiance to the people of the Russian Federation. I swear to abide by the constitution and laws of the Russian Federation, to respect and observe the rights and freedoms of its citizens, to faithfully carry out the orders of superiors and the duties assigned to me.”

The papers which seem to be signed by Tymoshchuk were published throughout Ukrainian media.

During the week, the former Bayern Munich, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Shakhtar Donetsk was left without his Ukrainian trophy record following his refusal to publicly condemn Russia’s invasion. Tymoshchuk also chose to keep his job at Zenit, where he is an assistant manager since 2017.

The 42-year-old also set the record for the highest number of caps for the national team at 144 during his playing days. That performance has also been deleted from the Ukrainian Football Association’s books. Tymoshchuk was left without his UEFA Pro coaching license too.
