NFL DFS: The Best Value Players This Week

This week, more than most, looks to be a slate where you should roster mid-tier players. No quarterback is priced above $7,000 on DraftKings, while nearly all running backs will cost less than $8,000 (the superhuman Christian McCaffrey being the major exception). As we usually find, there are solid options below $5,000 that will allow you to pay down at some positions, while paying up at others. Here are the top DFS value players this week.

Rookie QB, Dwayne Haskins is now the starter for the Washington Redskins. Priced at just $4,900 on DraftKings this Sunday, he could one of the best DFS value players this week. (Image: Porter Lambert/Getty)

Dwayne Haskins, Redskins QB, $4,900

The Redskins finally made the move to Haskins, placing Case Keenum on the bench. Haskins performed well last week against a poor Jets defense, going 19 for 35 yards for 214 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick. The woeful Washington offensive line could make life tough for the rookie signal caller, but this week, he’ll be at home against a Lions defense that is the second-worst in the NFL against opposing quarterbacks in DFS.

Sony Michel, Patriots RB, $4,600

Michel has seen his numbers diminish in recent weeks after receiving more touches early in the season. That just means it’s time to strike given his low salary, and an opponent in the Cowboys, that is in the lower tier of rushing defenses in the league.

Jordan Matthews, Eagles WR, $3,500

Injuries for Philadelphia’s receiving corps could be a boon for Matthews, who signed with the Eagles earlier this month. Although he caught just one ball last week against the Patriots, he was targeted six times, second-most on the team. The Eagles will face a Seahawks defense that isn’t nearly as suffocating as New England’s was, and it looks likely that Alshon Jeffery will miss a second game with a hurt ankle. At the bargain price of $3,500, Matthews is easily one of the best DFS value players this week.

Hunter Renfrow, Raiders WR, $4,500

Renfrow continues to be increasingly incorporated into Oakland’s passing attack by QB, Derek Carr, catching 15 passes over the past three weeks for 162 yards and a TD. He tied tight end Darren Waller for the team lead in targets last week against the Bengals, with six. The Raiders visit the Jets this week, a team that has let wide receivers run wild so far in 2019.

Greg Olsen, Panthers TE, $4,100

Olsen has turned it on recently, becoming a favorite target of QB, Kyle Allen. In weeks 10 and 11, Olsen caught 13 passes for 155 yards. The lack of touchdowns (only two on the year) has helped keep Olsen’s salary low. This Sunday, he will line up against the Saints D, which allowed Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate to roll up 10 catches for 73 yards last week.
