Unusual NFL Prop Bets: How Many Players Get Arrested?

NFL proposition bets are always big business for sportsbooks, but while traditional props are often popular, there are enough unusual wagers to keep even the most die-hard fan busy. Sportsbooks are offering everything from how many interceptions Cam Newton will throw this season to who will be the first player to score a touchdown at the Las Vegas Raiders’ new home, Allegiant Stadium.

The internet sportsbooks are the ones with the most unusual NFL prop bets. Sportsbetting.ag has the largest menu of strange wagers, starting with the over/under on how many players get arrested during the season. The line is at 6.5. They also have an over/under for how many players get suspended in 2020. That number is 12.5.

Another prop bet is on the first player to get benched this season. Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins is the favorite at +150, with Chicago QB Mitchell Trubisky right behind at +175. Looking for a long shot? Jacksonville signal-caller Gardner Minshew is at +800.

QBs at Center of Unusual NFL Prop Bets

A lot of the unusual NFL prop bets are focused on the quarterback position, especially on players who are on new teams.

Tom Brady, who went to Tampa Bay as a free agent, has a bet on whether he will retire at the end of the year. The 43-year-old has said he wants to play until he’s 45, and the odds reflect that. The “no” is the favorite at -325, while the “yes” is at +215.

Several quarterbacks are part of individual prop bets on whether they will miss a game due to injury. Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger, Arizona’s Kyler Murray, and Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson are all at -120 for either “yes” or “no.” Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz and New England’s Cam Newton have some value, however. Wentz is -140 to miss a game, and +100 to stay healthy. Newton is -140 to stay healthy, and +110 to miss a game.

Raiders, Raiders, More Raiders

With Las Vegas getting an NFL team, sportsbooks wanted to make them feel at home, and did so by putting up Raiders prop bets, some of which are definitely unusual.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook put out 21 prop bets for the NFL team, most of which are in offensive categories. Three focus on quarterback Derek Carr. The first is gross passing yards for the season. The over/under is set at 3,149.5 yards. The second is total interceptions by Carr, with the over/under at 8.5 The third is total touchdown passes by Carr with the over/under set at 17.5.

The defense wasn’t left out of the unusual prop bets. Defensive ends Clelin Ferrell and Maxx Crosby each got two wagers of their own. The first is solo and assisted tackles. The over/under for Ferrell is 40.5, while Crosby’s over/under is 45.5. Crosby also has the higher over/under for total sacks at 6.5. Ferrell’s sack total is set at 5.5.

The most unusual Raider prop bet, however, is who will score the first touchdown at their new facility, Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders host New Orleans on a Monday night game on Sept. 21.

The favorite is Saints running back Alvin Kamara at 5/1. He’s followed by New Orleans wide receiver Michael Thomas at 6/1, and Las Vegas running back Josh Jacobs at 8/1.
