Erling Haaland Returns on the Pitch Early After Injury and Scores Brilliant Goal for Dortmund

Haaland wasn’t expected to play until the new year, but insisted on returning to help his team on their pursuit of the Bundesliga title.

Haaland was subbed on after 72 minutes in Wolfsburg and only needed eight minutes to go back to scoring goals.

Haaland netted beautifully from a Julian Brandt cross to make it 3-1 to Dortmund. They went top in Germany at least until Bayern’s game vs Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday evening. Haaland has a fantastic goal rate since joining BVB almost two years ago. The 21-year-old Norwegian now scored 50 goals in 50 games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga alone.

In late October, Dortmund announced Haaland is out “for a few weeks” with a hip flexor injury. His dad, Alf Inge, said the striker is likely not to play until the end of the calendar year. Haaland beat all predictions and recovered one month earlier, fully contributing to the win in Wolfsburg.

Haaland, a man in demand

Dortmund refused to sell Haaland in 2020, but will find it extremely tough to keep him next summer. Chelsea were plotting a $210 million bid to sign him after winning the Champions League, but finally ended up buying Lukaku from Inter. Dortmund publicly refuted any claim they are ready to discuss Haaland’s transfers, even though FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool were all interested in the player.

According to the bookies, PSG have the highest chance of signing Haaland in 2021. They sit at +600, with City behind them at +900. Bayern Munchen stand at +1,200, while Real Madrid and Chelsea are tied at +1,600. Barcelona and Manchester United are regarded as long shots, with both at +3,300.

PSG are expected to go after another super striker if Kylian Mbappe decides to leave for Real Madrid at the end of the campaign. Mbappe runs out of his current deal at Parc des Princes on 30 June.
