5 DFS Sleepers for Charles Schwab Challenge

PGA Tour golf is back this week with the Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Eager DFS fans are ready to watch their favorite pros hit the links in a stacked field featuring 101 players who have previously won on tour.

Jordan Spieth a sleeper? The tour pro is surprisingly under the radar and features a low DFS salary this week as the PGA Tour restarts its 2020 season at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Kevin Na won the Schwab last year with a score of 13 under par. The top five players in the world are expected to play the 7,209-yard course, though you won’t be able to fit all of them in your lineups. That being said, here are five other sleepers to watch for in this first event since the tour suspended play due to the pandemic.

Marc Leishman ($8,900 on DraftKings, $10,700 on FanDuel)

The Australian pro won the Famers Insurance Open in January and finished second in his last start before the tour suspension at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Not only has Leishman been solid in 2020, making eight of nine cuts, he’s a perfect seven of seven in making the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge during his career. His best finish in this event is just 13th, but his course history combined with his hot start to 2020 makes him one to watch.

Jordan Spieth ($8,000 on DK, $10,000 on FD)

It’s admittedly hard to think of Spieth as a “sleeper,” given his career success, but with his recent struggles, he could fly under the radar. Given Spieth’s incredible success in this event, including a win in 2016 and runner-up finishes in 2015 and 2017 with no cuts missed in seven tries, he’s hard to pass up – especially at that lower salary.

Harris English ($7,500 on DK, $9,400 on FD)

English enjoyed success early in 2020 with five top-10 finishes after struggling in 2018 and 2019. He’s been steady this year, making 10 of 11 cuts, and he’s made five of six cuts at Colonial Country Club over the years. His best finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge was second in 2016.

Max Homa ($7,500 on DK, $9,300 on FD)

Homa’s hot start to 2020 is hard to ignore, having made nine consecutive cuts and posting three finishes in the top 10. The question on peoples’ minds, however, is whether players like Homa can maintain the same level of success after nearly three months without competitive golf? He doesn’t have much history at Colonial Country Club, having missed the cut at the Crowne Plaza Invitational in 2015 and finishing 27th in the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2019.

Ryan Palmer ($7,400 on DK, $9,400 on FD)

This event occurs on Palmer’s home course, as he’s a member at Colonial. Unsurprisingly, he’s had good results here. Last year, Palmer finished sixth in this event for his fourth top-10 finish in 16 starts at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He made the cut in eight of nine events before the tour suspended play, which included two top-10 finishes.
