Arizona Cardinals: Star Players for 2014

Quarterback: Carson Palmer

Veteran Carson Palmer was picked up by the Cardinals from the Oakland Raiders following the departure of Kevin Kolb at the end of the 2012 season. Following a brilliant college career that peaked with a Heisman Trophy with the University of Southern California in 2002, Palmer was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals with the first overall pick of the 2003 draft and has since played two Pro Bowls. A well-trialed campaigner, Palmer will likely face his toughest test to date with the complicated Cardinals offense.

Offensive Star: Larry Fitzgerald

Larry Fitzgerald was 3rd pick of the 2004 NFL draft. In his rookie season Fitzgerald became the youngest player to record at least 2 touchdown receptions in a single game. In 2005 he was the leading receiver in the NFL and was selected for his first Pro Bowl team. Fitzgerald is now a seven time Pro Bowler and four time All-Pro selection. His performance in the 2008 post-season was the greatest in NFL history by a receiver; breaking the NFL record for most touchdown receptions in a postseason, most receptions in a postseason and most receiving yards in a postseason. Fitzgerald is the greatest receiver in Cardinals history and has been one of the best receivers of the last decade. On November 24, 2013 he became the youngest NFL receiver to reach 11,000 receiving yards.

Defensive Star: Patrick Peterson

Cornerback Patrick Peterson was fifth overall by the Cardinals in the 2011 draft after earning All-American honors at Louisiana State University. Known as one of the fastest men in the NFL after running the second-fastest 40-yard dash in the 2011 NFL Combine, Peterson tied the record for most punt return touchdowns in a single season in his rookie year with four. He is a three time Pro Bowler and two time All-Bowler, in 2013 he was picked for both. Peterson is without doubt the sort of player no team could do without and is set for a massive season having well and truly found his feet within the team.

Head Coach: Bruce Arians

Bruce Arians began his coaching career as soon as he graduated college, as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech, the University he had attended. Well and truly earning his stripes as a senior level coach, Arians held down many successful positions in both the college scene and NFL, before being placed as Interim Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 following Coach Chuck Pagano's leukemia diagnosis. While in this role, Arians led the Colts to a 9-3 record to complete one of the biggest one-season turnarounds in NFL history.
