Simple blackjack strategy focuses on the card that the dealer is showing.
If the dealer shows a high card (7,9,10,J,Q,K,A) then the player should try to get as close to 21 as possible, usually sitting on a total of hard 17 or above.
If the dealer is showing a card that requires drawing at least two more cards (2,3,4,5,6), then the usual strategy will be to stand on any total of 12 or above, hoping that the dealer will bust.
Players should be looking to profit when they have the option make an additional split or double down bet whilst the dealer is showing a weak card.
The table below provides a detailed guide of how you should play your starting hand depending on what the dealer is showing.
Rules change from casino to casino, so this guide takes into account the fact that doubling down may not be available on all hands, surrender may not be available at all and you may not be able to double down after splitting your hand.
Keep in mind this guide is for Las Vegas strip rules blackjack. We'll try to get guides up for other blackjack games soon.
