Individual scoring is down in the NBA, but Curry became the first player to drop 50 points in a game this season. He increased his scoring average to 27.9 ppg for second-best in the NBA, trailing Kevin Durant (29.5 ppg).

Curry only needed 35 minutes of court time to score 50 points. He knocked down nine 3-pointers on 9-for-19 shooting from beyond the arc. He also missed out on a triple-double when he notched 10 assists but only seven rebounds. Curry outgunned Atlanta’s Trae Young, who scored 28 points in the loss.

“That was just a stunning performance by Steph,” said Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. “He was amazing. I want to say I’ve never seen anything like it, but I’ve been watching it for seven years, yet it’s still incredible to watch.”

Curry, 33, became the oldest player in NBA history to score 50 points and dish 10 assists in a game. He also became the third player in Warriors franchise history to tally at least 50 points in a game, joining Rick Barry (14) and Wilt Chamberlain (101). Curry could catch Barry, but it’s safe to say that Chamberlain’s record of 101 50-point games will never be broken.

After an impressive start to the season with the best record in the NBA, the Warriors improved to +500 odds to win the 2022 championship.
