Target These 3 QBs in DFS: Justin Fields, Spencer Sanders, Tua Tagovailoa

Saturday’s college football DFS slate provides some dilemmas. There are a bunch of high-powered offenses among teams like Alabama, Maryland, Ohio State and Oklahoma State, but only so many roster spots available. You will almost certainly want to slot a QB in the super flex this week. Let’s take a look at some of the available options.

Tua Tagovailoa can score DFS points in bunches, and he’ll look to be one of the leaders at the quarterback position against South Carolina on Saturday. (Image: Sports Illustrated)

Quarterbacks

The Three-Headed Hydra of Sanders, Fields and Tagovailoa – This is one of those days you can take your pick. All three of Spencer Sanders of Oklahoma State, Justin Fields of Ohio State and Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama are quarterbacking teams expected to score around 40 points on Saturday. All three are at the top of the salary charts, but all three are close together in salary. That also makes it tough to draft two of three while slotting the secondary QB in the super flex. So, my suggestion is to sprinkle each of the three into your lineups this weekend.

Josh Jackson, Maryland ($6,600 on DK, $9,100 on FD) – Maryland has been one of the biggest surprises of college football with its point-scoring capabilities, and in a game against Temple in which oddsmakers expect the score to be along the lines of 37-30 you’ll want players from both teams. The main guy I want to target in this matchup is Jackson, who was 21-for-38 for 296 yards and three touchdowns in the Terrapin’s 63-20 shellacking of Syracuse last week.

Running backs

Anthony McFarland, Maryland ($6,600 on DK, $10,100 on FD) – McFarland hasn’t seen max usage as the Terrapins have blown out opponents, but he’ll likely get more carries Saturday in that expected close game against Temple. He is certainly underpriced on DK while being the most expensive running back on FD.

JK Dobbins, Ohio State ($7,500 on DK, $9,600 on FD) – Dobbins has made the most of limited playing time in Buckeyes blowouts, including rushing for 141 on just 17 carries and two TDs against Cincinnati last Saturday. Indiana is expected to put more of a fight this week, so Dobbins could likely see more touches.

Wide receivers

Brandon Mack, Temple ($5,200 on DK, $8,400 on FD) – Temple lacks the running game it has had in years past and looks to throw more in 2019. Mack caught nine passes for 130 yards in the opener against Bucknell and could be quarterback Anthony Russo’s favorite target going forward.

Deshaunte Jones, Iowa State ($4,600 on DK, $8,000 on FD) – Jones caught an incredible 14 passes on 16 targets for 126 yards in Iowa State’s Week 1 win over Northern Iowa, which makes him immensely valuable on DK and its one-point-per-reception scoring. I’m hoping since Iowa State did not play last week that Jones is somewhat forgotten and underowned in Week 3.
