Some players put up some really big college football DFS numbers on Saturday, including Cyclones freshman Breece Hall, while an SEC running back from the Show-Me State didn’t show us much on the field. Here are the highs and lows of the weekend.

Cheers

You have to think that DraftKings will eventually raise Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts’ salary to an appropriate level, or that he will eventually be nearly 100 percent owned in tournaments. Neither has happened so far. I was amazed yet again to see Hurts owned by about 60 percent of players in large-field events Saturday on a $9,000 DK salary. The 40 percent of players who passed regretted that decision, as Hurts threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 75 yards and two TDs. That was worth 47.14 DK points, or more than 5x value on his salary.

There was some question whether Iowa State freshman Breece Hall would get the bulk of the carries on Saturday against Texas Tech after his breakout campaign the week before. The answer, as it turned out, was yes. Hall rushed 19 times for 183 yards and two TDs while also catching three passes for 73 yards. His 43.60 DK points were more than 7x value on his $5,600 salary. Depending on his pricing this week, he will be one to watch for against Oklahoma State.

Speaking of the Cowboys, the team’s running back Chuba Hubbard had another patented big day, carrying 32 times for 171 yards and two TDs as the team lost 27-45 to Baylor. That’s four times in the past five games he’s gotten more than 30 carries. That Oklahoma State-Iowa State game should be a track meet.

Baylor won convincingly Saturday, and quarterback Charlie Brewer put up enough stats to warrant his $7,900 DK and $10,000 FanDuel salaries. He threw for 312 yards on 13 of 17 passing, including a touchdown, while also running for 16 yards and a TD.

Jeers

Variance didn’t work out for Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb against West Virginia, as he was heavily covered and his running mates saw most of the receptions. He had just three catches for 71 yards and didn’t score, ending his streak of eight straight games with at least one touchdown. Those kinds of days will happen from time to time. He will still be one to watch for against Kansas State next week.

Baylor receiver RJ Sneed isn’t a prominent fixture in the Bears’ receiving corps, but at a $4,100 DK salary against Oklahoma State, he seemed worth a flier to help fill out lineups. A week after catching six passes for 84 yards against Texas Tech, he snagged just two passes for nine yards against the Cowboys.

Who knew that Vanderbilt could bottle anyone up? That’s what the Commodores did to Larry Rountree III and the Missouri offense on Saturday. The running back was held to just 29 yards on 12 carries, with one TD. Nonetheless, he will be one to monitor for lineups this week as the Tigers face a Kentucky team that just got gashed on the ground by Georgia.
