We’re entering Week 9 of the college football season, and are just now finally getting some Big 10 games on the DFS slate. Thanks, COVID-19. But, better late than never as DraftKings is offering a whopping 13 games (which would have been 14 before the cancelation of the Nebraska-Wisconsin game) on the day slate.

I’ll focus mostly on the Big 12 and SEC, though, and on some contests that are likely to be shootouts.

Quarterbacks

TJ Finley, LSU ($7,300 on DraftKings, $8,600 on FanDuel)Finley shined against South Carolina last Saturday in replacement of the injured Myles Brennan, throwing for 265 yards and scoring three total TDs. Brennan will miss this week’s game against Auburn, a team like most in the SEC, that has forgotten how to tackle.

Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State ($6,600 on DK, $9,100 on FD) – Even though the Cowboys offense isn’t what it was in 2019, Sanders is entirely too cheap against the woeful Texas passing defense. Sanders completed 20 of 29 passes for 235 yards and a TD while also running for 71 yards and a TD against Iowa State last week. Oklahoma State will look to put up yards on the Longhorns as the Big 12’s best shot at a playoff berth this year.

Running backs

Breece Hall, Iowa State ($9,100 on DK, Game not on FD) – Every running back has smashed Kansas so far, and now the Jayhawks face their best running back opponent yet. Hall rushed 20 times for 185 yards and a TD against Oklahoma State last week. Oddsmakers expect the Cyclones to put up 40 on Kansas this Saturday, one of the highest projected totals on the slate. Pay up for Hall this week.

Tank Bigsby, Auburn ($6,900 on DK, $8,900 on FD) – Like Hall, Bigsby continues to see big volume thanks to putting up huge numbers. Bigsby ran for 129 yards against Ole Miss last week, his third straight game hitting the century mark. He’s also scored three touchdowns in that span. He should run wild on LSU.

Wide receivers

Terrace Marshall, Jr., LSU ($7,800 on DK, $10,000 on FD) – Pair TJ Finley with Marshall, who continues to solidify himself as the top wideout for the Tigers. Halfway through the SEC campaign, he’s caught 27 passes for 512 yards and an eye-popping nine touchdowns. He should factor greatly into the expected Tigers versus Tigers shootout.

Calvin Austin III, Memphis ($5,900 on DK, $9,100 on FD) – After Damonte Coxie hit the road, Austin quickly established himself as the top wide receiver for the Tigers. (Don’t you think there are just too many Tigers mascots in the NCAA, come to think of it?) All Austin has done the past two weeks is catch 15 passes for 335 yards and three TDs.
