5 Golfers for Your DFS Rosters at BMW Championship

Seventy golfers remain in the race for the FedEx Cup, and they hit the BMW Championship at Olympia Fields Country Club this weekend. A par 70 course playing at 7,350 yards, the event features no cut, so we’re looking at which players can pile up DFS points over four rounds. The top 30 in the FedEx cup standings after this event will play in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Georgia next week. Consider these guys for your rosters.

Matthew Wolff holds his head and walks off the course in disbelief after hitting an eagle to win the 3M Open. He has much to play for this week at the BMW Championship, trying to secure a spot in the Tour Championship. (Image: Star Tribune)

Daniel Berger ($9,700 on DraftKings, $11,200 on FanDuel)

I plan to compile my builds this week mainly in the mid-tier, with players under $10,000 in DK salary. Berger will top many of my lineups. It’s hard to heap too much praise on this guy, who has proven one of the most reliable golfers since the PGA Tour restart. His third-place finish last week marked his sixth top-five performance in his past eight starts. Berger has gained 2.38 strokes per round since the restart — the best on tour. He ranks in the top 15 in several all-around categories, including off-the-tee, approach, around-the-green, and putting. He also averages 4.55 birdies per round this season, fifth-best on the tour, and an important scoring stat in DFS.

Kevin Kisner ($8,400 on DK, $9,700 on FD)

Kisner is sneaky good – did you realize he’s now 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings? He tied for fourth last week at the Northern Trust, his third finish of fourth or better in his past six tournaments. Kisner has notched five top-25 finishes in his past six events, missing the cut at the Memorial. In short, he’s been consistent and could provide great value for a low price this week at the BMW Championship.

Harris English ($8,300 on DK, $10,300 on FD)

I rostered English in most of my lineups last week and he paid off in spades with his second-place finish (no one was catching Dustin Johnson, though). English has proven consistent in the past three months, missing the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge before knocking off six consecutive top-25 finishes. He putted well last week, while also ranking fourth in shots gained tee-to-green. He should rank high again on the leaderboard this week at the BMW Championship.

Tyrrell Hatton ($8,200 on DK, $10,200 on FD)

Hatton suffered an up-and-down week at the Northern Trust with rounds of 67-71-63-72. Mixed as it was, his peformance showed he can pile up those high-scoring birdies which are important for good DFS results. In fact, Hatton leads the tour in birdie average at 4.79 per round. After a strong start to the season that included six straight top-15 finishes, Hatton’s 25th last week could be a good sign heading into the BMW Championship.

Matthew Wolff ($8,200 on DK, $9,800 on FD)

Wolff also experienced a weekend of highs and lows at the Northern Trust: his 77 on Saturday followed by a 67 on Sunday. He’s got two factors in his favor this week. Wolff won the Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields in 2018, and he’s 33rd in the FedEx Cup standings, so he needs a high finish to get into the top 30 and play the finale next week.
