5 DFS Picks for Wyndham Championship

The PGA Tour heads to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week for the Wyndham Championship. A week after the year’s first major (thanks, COVID-19), many top players will sit this one out, meaning we DFS participants will have to pay up for players who usually feature lower salaries. That could make roster construction trickier this week. Plus, we have the added wrinkle of players on the bubble trying to qualify for the playoffs that start next week.

Webb Simpson will surely be highly owned this week (he named his daughter after this event for good reason), but let’s look at some other players you can use to fill out your rosters and differentiate your team from the rest.

Harris English ($9,300 on DraftKings, $10,900 on FanDuel)

English has been Mr. Reliable this season on the PGA Tour, with four straight top-20 finishes, including a 19th last week at the PGA Championship. Going farther back, he finished in the top 20 in seven of his past eight tournaments. English has never missed the cut in six tries at the Wyndham Championship, with his best finish a tie for 10th in 2012.

Billy Horschel ($9,100 on DK, $10,400 on FD)

The Wyndham Championship has been quite kind to Billy Ho, who has finished inside the top eight in three of his past four trips, including a tie for fifth in 2016. Horschel’s play has also been strong in 2020, with him making four consecutive cuts, including a seventh at the Workday Charity Open.

Si Woo Kim ($8,600 on DK, $10,100 on FD)

Kim won this event in 2016 and tied for fifth in 2019. The South Korean’s play is often up and down, but it’s mostly been up this season. Kim made the cut in seven straight starts, capped by a tie for 13th at the PGA Championship last week.

Brandt Snedeker ($8,200 on DK, $10,000 on FD)

The 2020 season hasn’t been kind to Snedeker, as he’s made fewer than two-thirds of the cuts in his events. Still, the Wyndham Championship may be coming along at just the right time. Another classic course horse, Snedeker won this tournament in 2018, and has enjoyed four top-10 finishes in his past 10 trips to Sedgefield.

Brice Garnett ($6,700 on DK, $8,500 on FD)

For salary savings, consider Garnett who finished inside the top 20 in his past three starts at the Wyndham Championship. Although he’s made just nine of 17 cuts this season, Garnett’s history at Sedgefield makes him a solid pick at a value price.
