2022 NFL Draft: First Round Order, Jaguars Secure #1 Pick Again

The Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Indianapolis Colts in the final game of the season to deny the Colts a spot in the AFC wild-card while, at the same time, preserving their own chances at securing the #1 pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft with the worst record in the league at 3-14.

The Detroit Lions also pulled off an upset in Week 18 with a win against the Green Bay Packers, but maintained the second pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Lions also have a late first-round pick courtesy of the LA Rams after they shipped Matthew Stafford to Hollywood for a nice haul.

The Jaguars finished with the worst record in the NFL in back-to-back seasons, which is why they secured the top pick in the draft in consecutive years.

Last year, the Jaguars selected quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the #1 pick. They have options this year and could add an offensive lineman to protect Lawrence, or they can pick up a top defensive prospect to help out their awful defense.

The Houston Texans went 4-13 and locked up the third pick in the upcoming draft. If they can trade Deshaun Watson before the draft, they could add another first-round pick in 2022.

The 2022 NFL Draft will occur at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas starting with the first round on April 28.

Giants and Jets have multiple top-10 picks

The New York Jets and New York Giants both went 4-13 this season, and each have two, top-10 picks in the first round. The Giants actually get two picks in the top seven of the 2022 NFL Draft with the fifth and seventh overall picks, thanks to a trade with the Chicago Bears.

The Jets earned the #4 pick, and added the 10th pick from the Seattle Seahawks to complete the Jamal Adams trade, which included two first-round picks (in 2021 and 2022).
