On Thursday morning, Mattress Mack bet an additional $1 million on the Astros with William Hill in Las Vegas. The Houston Astros are hosting the Tampa Bay Rays for Game 5 of the ALDS best-of-five series. The Rays won two games in a row to even the series and force Game 5.

According to VSIN’s Pauly Howard, Mattress Mack had to lay $504,000 on the Houston Astros in the ALDS to win back $200,000 from Circa.

On Thursday morning, ESPN’s David Purdum reported that Mattress Mack wagered another cool million on the Astros to win Game 5. William Hill will pay him close to $420,000 if the Astros avoid an elimination.

Win It All Promo

Mattress Mack is a well-known Astros super fan. The furniture store titan created the “Win It All” promo in Houston, Texas. If any customers spend $3,000 or more at one of his three Gallery Furniture stores, they obtain a full refund if the Astros win the World Series.

According to varying reports, Mattress Mack will be on the hook for anywhere from $15 million to $20 million if the Astros win the 2019 World Series.

Two years ago, Mattress Mack ran a similar promotion at his furniture stores in Houston. When the Astros won the 2017 World Series, he paid out close to $10 million in furniture refunds. He wagered over $1 million in 2017 to help defray the cost of the popular promotion.

With the Astros the big favorite to win the 2019 World Series, Mattress Mack doesn’t want to be exposed for several million dollars. He hit the road with the intent on placing big bets on the Astros to win the 2019 World Series.

Last week at the Scarlet Pearl in Biloxi, Mississippi, he placed a $3.5 million bet that the Houston Astros would win the World Series. Draft Kings runs the sports book at the Scarlet Pearl, and they’d be on the hook for the win. The payout for that massive bet would net $7.7 million for Mattress Mack.

ALDS Game 5: Glasnow vs. Cole

The two elimination games in the NLDS each had their own amazing moments. The St. Louis Cardinals tied an MLB postseason record with 10 runs in the first inning against Atlanta. Not to be outdone, the Washington Nationals rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to send their game into extra innings. In the top of the tenth inning, Howie Kenrick smashed a grand slam to put the Nats ahead for good. The Nationals knocked out the LA Dodgers and moved on to the NLCS.

The Tampa Rays hope they can work similar magic on the road in Houston for Game 5. The Astros will send their ace, Gerrit Cole (20-5, 2.50 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) to the mound for the elimination game. The Rays have Tyler Glasnow (6-1, 1.78 ERA) going for them in this do-or-die game.

According to multiple sports books in Las Vegas, Glasnow is a +250 underdog. Bookies listed Cole and the Astros as a big favorite at -280 on the money line. Cole shut down the Rays in Game 2. He tossed 7.2 scoreless innings and whiffed 15 batters.

Prior to his gem in Game 2, the Rays knocked Cole around in the regular season. In four previous starts, Cole went 0-2 with two no decisions, and a 3.51 ERA.

Win or lose in ALDS Game 5, it’s going to be a heck of a sweat for Mattress Mack.
