World Series Odds: Don’t Sleep on the Atlanta Braves at 8/1

At the start of the second half of the season, the Atlanta Braves are 8/1 odds to win the 2019 World Series according to William Hill. The Braves (58-37) hold the second-best record in the National League and also boast the best road record in the NL.

The Braves are the hottest team in baseball won five games in a row and they are 8-1 over their last nine games. They recently beat Christian Yelich and the Milwaukee Brewers, first place in the NL Central, in the opening game of a highly-anticipated series between the two division leaders.

In the NL East, the Braves opened up a 7.5-game lead over the Washington Nationals in second place. The Philadelphia Phillies and Bryce Harper slipped to 9.5 games back.

NL EAST STANDINGS:
Atlanta Braves 58-37
Washington Nationals 49-43
Philadelphia Phillies 48-46
New York Mets 42-51
Miami 34-57

The Miami Marlins and their new hot color scheme were in tank mode before the season began.

The New York Mets have been a huge disappointment. Lifelong fans think the team has turned into a joke and competing for worst NYC sports team with the New York Knicks and New York Jets. The Mets are 15 games behind the first-place Braves even with standout rookie Pete Alonso. Manager Mickey Callaway’s days are numbered but how long can he hold onto his job before he gets sacked?

Big Bats and 10-Win Crew

Freddie Freeman is a one-man wrecking crew. The Braves first baseman leads the team with a .302 average plus 25 home runs and 74 RBI.

Ronald Acuna has 23 home runs with only 55 RBI and slashing at .290/.373./.509.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson has provided some punch in the lineup with 21 homer and 21 doubles.

“We’ve been clicking for two months now,” said Freddie Freeman. “None of this surprises anyone in this clubhouse. We are playing really good baseball.”

Max Field (10-4) and Mike Soroka (10-1) are one of the few pitchers with double digit wins. The Braves are also one of the few teams with a pair of 10-game winners. Soroka also boasts a 2.24 ERA. Field locked up his tenth win of the season against a dangerous Milwaukee Brewers lineup.

Closer Luke Johnson posted 17 saves with a 2.87 ERA and 1.32 WHIP.

Hotlanta Value

The Braves are the hottest team in the league and they look good at 20/1 odds. Both oddsmakers and gamblers see the Dodgers in the World Series against either the winner of the Astros/Yankees. That’s what makes the Braves so dangerous is that they’re a good team that everyone is overlooking.

The NL Central is super deep this year. Only 5.5 games separate first from last place between the Brewers and Reds. However, all five teams are cannibalizing each other which opens the door for the Braves.

According to the William Hill, the Atlanta Braves are 8/1 odds to win the 2019 World Series. The LA Dodgers are the top favorite on the board at 11/4 odds to win the 2019 World Series.
