Bryson DeChambeau is red hot going into this week’s BMW Championship, but can he win three in a row? If he did, he would be achieving a rare feat.

While players have won three tournaments they have entered, it has been since at least 1978 since a golfer won three consecutive tournaments. The last person to capture three events was Dustin Johnson. He won the Genesis Open, took a week off, won the WGC Mexico Championship, took two weeks off, and then won the WGC Match Play.

Impressive, but if DeChambeau could win this week after capturing The Northern Trust and the Dell Technologies Championship, it would be nothing short of spectacular. He has already joined Billy Horschel by winning two straight in the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs. Horschel captured the BMW Championship and followed it up by winning the Tour Championship in 2014.

DeChambeau won The Northern Trust by four strokes and last week’s Dell Technologies Championship by two. He has been 34-under par in eight rounds of golf and has not had a round higher than 70.

“Consistency has been a big thing for me,” DeChambeau said after his second victory on Sunday. “I’ve been trying to get that week in and week out, and I was able to kind of figure something out last week on the putting green, and that’s kind of progressed me to move forward.”

Sportsbooks not Convinced

While DeChambeau feels like his game is ready for a trifecta, oddsmakers aren’t so certain. They have him at 16/1, behind four golfers. Dustin Johnson is the favorite at 8/1, followed by Justin Rose at 12/1, then Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas at 14/1. Rory McIlroy is also at 16/1.

While bookmakers might not be wowed by winning two consecutive events, his contemporaries certainly are impressed.

“You know, he’s been, I mean, nothing short of impressive, to win back to back especially in the playoffs,” Rickie Fowler said. “So, you know, not that it was, you know, maybe perfect golf, no one plays perfect golf, but the way he either hung around, put together a solid, great round when he needed to to get himself maybe back in the mix and then to, you know, go out with the lead or get the lead and maintain that. It was definitely impressive to watch.”

Rose, who finished second to DeChambeau at the Dell Technologies Championship, said his run has definitely earned him the accolades.

“Great, phenomenal golf, a lot of World Ranking points in these tournaments,” Rose said. “He’s going to fly up in the World Rankings. He’s proven to he’s facing the biggest and best fields in the game. There’s a lot of conjecture about how he goes about it, but when he delivers as he is now, it just proves it.”

Who Can Topple DeChambeau?

Rose is certainly a smart bet after his runner up finish last week. This course has some US Open qualities to it, and Rose has always been a methodical, calculated golfer.

Another one to look at is Tony Finau. He finished tied for fourth last week, and second the week before. This could be his tournament, and he is due for a victory. He is at 20/1.

A longshot to consider is Fowler. He had an oblique injury and took the last two weeks off, but he comes back rested and could definitely challenge for the win. At 25/1, he also has attractive odds.
