The Tennis Championship

July 1, 2008

Wimbledon is the premier event of the Tennis Grand Slam, and it's down to the quarter finals at the All England Club. Can Federer win again?

Sports Bettting at the Sportsbook

Roger Federer has won the last five Wimbledon championships in a row. His last two victories have both been over Rafael Nadal in the final.

The Fed Express needs two more titles to equal the great Pete Sampras on seven, or one more consecutive win to tie with WC Renshaw who won six from 1881-86.

The bookmakers at Bodog's Online Sportsbook have him as the unbackable favorite in his upcoming quarter final against Croatia's Mario Ancic. Federed is paying just 3c for every $1 bet. For a two horse race, Ancic is paying an incredible 11.00.

To win the championship, the number one seed is rated a 60% chance at 1.67. Nadal is second favorite, paying 2.38 at Bodog. We can't go past the favorite in this one. Rafi is a hell of a player, but Federer owns the grass at Wimbledon.

On the lady's side of the draw, the Williams sisters are continuing their rise back up the ranks of womens tennis. Serena is a slight favorite over Venus at 2.10 vs 2.20 to win the title. Venus won it last year, which was her fourth title. Serena has won it twice, both times defeating Venus in the final... Which seems a little fishy...

We're backing an all Williams final again, but who do you pick in that one? Both times previously Serena has trimuphed, but considering Venus has won all 4 of her other finals appearances, it's strange that she lets her sister win..

I guess she'll let Serena get the win again, so our money is on Serena at 2.10.
